oh, without a doubt. the whole we basically have the same characters is so true. you could easily replace thor with superman and the only differences would be the writers/artist. Captain America and Batman. Quicksilver and The Flash. Vision and Martian Manhunter. it was the basis for the whole DC VS Marvel years ago. despite some small tweaks to powers they are the same characters.
to me the followups to batman really knocked DC characters down a few pegs in terms of movie worthiness. blade did as much for the marvel cinematic universe as spiderman did but because he is not a well known Marvel character people didnt realize it was a "comic book" movie.
Warner to me is just looking to make a buck with their movies where as marvel is looking at money and telling a great story interwoven between its films.

Ahh, okay. Does DC have any major properties that are not part of JLA?Peeps wrote:stip wrote:The left side is also missing some of marvels biggest characters. No Spider-Man, no X-men, no Hulk
there should be a hulk but the others no. this is from the avengers vs JLA and all those are members of either the Avengers or JLA

I don't think the Avengers team is inherently more interesting than the JLA team. Batman and Spider-Man who have to be two of the easiest characters to write for have bad movies to their credit because they had bad creative teams. Now we have a movie taking place in space with a talking raccoon and a sentient tree who can only say one word and it looks cool because they have a good creative team behind them. I have no doubt we could get Stip excited about a Shazam movie with the right people behind it.
I'm not gonna lie. A talking raccoon with a machine gun is gonna be a hard concept to ruin for me.

You might be hard pressed to find too many characters who haven't been in some form of the JL over the years. You could say the same thing about the Avengers.

You could draw some parallels but a lot of those Avengers vs JLA match ups I would switch up. Bats and Capt are a natural matchup in a fight between the teams though I would say Bats has a lot more in common with Iron Man. Similar circumstances different choices.

I guess it depends on whether or not you're talking about their character or their powers.bada wrote:stip wrote:captain American and batman are fairly different characters, aren't they?Peeps wrote:oh, without a doubt. the whole we basically have the same characters is so true. you could easily replace thor with superman and the only differences would be the writers/artist. outsiders, Teen Titans thought they all sorta fall under the JLA eventually. Kinda like everyone eventually becomes an Avenger, everyone in DC eventually become a leaguer.stip wrote:Ahh, okay. sorry bada, didnt notice you said the same exact thing.
capt and bats are similar in the sense
they are who everyone looks to lead in a time of major crisis
both have a no kill policy (though they have broken it)
their smarts are their real power (granted cap has peak endurance/strength) but otherwise they are fairly even

Except, for the most part, Spiderman has been kept separate from the Avengers. As has the Fantastic Four. And the X-men are practically their own wing of the marvel universe. those are some pretty major properties. As far as i know, one of the major differences may be that most of the Marquee characters in the marvel universe are kept out of the Avengers, so that the Avengers can elevate mid-tier characters.
This could be outdated knowledge, though. I haven't really followed comics outside of the movies since the mid 90s.

I don't think Marvel has a clear-cut Batman equivalent; both Iron Man and Daredevil also share some Bat elements.

Spider-Man is an Avenger. I believe everyone in the Fantastic Four except for Reed has been one. A good number of X-Men as well. Some of that happened after you stopped following. Marvel wanted to have the Avengers match the JLA as far has heavy hitters. Of course Wolverine has to be in every comic.stip wrote:bada wrote:stip wrote:Ahh, okay. This. Iron Man mentally, Daredevil physically is a pretty apt comparison. Caps tactical knowledge\leadership intangibles. Black Panther is another good comparison though he might have some mystical shit going on. I think Moon Knight is the acknowledged Marvel Batman rip. Basically Batman is the pinnacle of non super powered humanity. In the comics anyways.theplatypus wrote:I don't think Marvel has a clear-cut Batman equivalent; both Iron Man and Daredevil also share some Bat elements.
