I'm curious to see if they improved as the tour progressed, I would hope so, but I was so seriously underwhelmed by both the leg 1 boots and the show I saw a few weeks ago that my motivation to listen to current live Pearl Jam is at an all-time low right now.
I think there are some good performances from leg 1, they are scattered, nothing IMO is as bad as the beginning of the aussie 2003 tour and the beginning of SA leg in 2011. I am onto charlotte with one more leg 1 show to go. I will be taking a bit of brake after leg 1 to go through my lists.
I love Worcester 2 and Brooklyn 1. Worcester opens with Release and a great version of Long Road. Best Red Mosquito in years. Brooklyn had an amazing performance of Wash and Eddie sounded solid for those.
Baltimore and Charlottesville are hit and miss. If theres a song where Eddie has to growl like he used to, its an abomination.
Perfect example: Grievance. HORRIBLE. just f'n horrible. Love that song too. But Footsteps was good and a couple other songs.
Well, I saw the sick setlist of Phoenix. And was so stoked to get this one. All I can say is: wow it's really bad. There are a couple of songs like Daughter with WMA tag that is good as is Long Road and Release. Alone was really good as was Evolution,
Surprisingly,But Lowlight was maybe the worst performance I've ever heard from this band. Better man was weak. Given to Fly was in the bad category. Hard to imagine and Footsteps save this from being an utter embarrassment.
I went back and listened to Brooklyn 2 and Worcester 1 and the difference is like night and day.
The ironic thing for me is no matter how weak they are,
corduroy is still really good.
I'll get Vancouver, Calgary and I might get Pittsburgh only because it was early
In the tour and I loooove Of The Girl.
I'm not a basher mind you. I understand unlike some of these negative freaks that the voice as it ages, will get deeper and some notes just won't be hit. But Phoenix is a glaring example that either Eddie needs to lay off the sauce,
Or the mixing of these boots needs to fade his voice from being louder and dominating the boot, to making the band a little louder (especially Mccready) and maybe that will help?? You tell me.
I really hope that the last 4 shows are better than Phoenix.
Wow. I respect everyone's opinion, but I was thinking the opposite. I thought it was the best performance of Getaway thus far, Lowlight did miss a bit though.
If you didn't like Phx, I don't think LA will help. The parts I heard on the radio from the 23rd are not good.
Maybe I'm listening to some mysterious recordings that no one else has but I have Brooklyn 2, Philly 2 and Charlottesville and they all sound excellent to me. Yea, some of the new songs are a little rough but that seems to be the norm with new material ever since the 2006 tour. Other than that, I haven't noticed any glaring atrocities and the crowd energy seems spot on.

reading the comments on this latest round of shows here... i'm not going to buy anything until the two la shows show up but, man, i'm hoping that of the three shows i went to san diego is the least disappointing to listen to.
