I think it would be unfair to leave Buffalo out of Sadden 2015.

Re: 2014 NFL Offseason
Weird parity note...In the last thirty seasons, the Houston Texans are the only team not to make a conference championship game. If you go last twenty-five, Cleveland and Cincinnati join them. If you go twenty, Washington, Buffalo, Miami, Kansas City and Detroit get added. Dallas is pretty close to making the list. Odd for anyone who got into football in the late 80s/early 90s to think about Washington, Buffalo, Miami, and Dallas being among the teams to have gone the longest without getting close to the Super Bowl.

Cincinnati was solid in the late 80s as well.

Yeah, that team fell off a cliff when Paul Brown died and his idiot son took over.Kaius wrote:Cincinnati was solid in the late 80s as well.
But here's one counter to Lament's fun fact, at least on the AFC side: Since 1995, 17 of the last 19 AFC Champions have consisted of the same five teams: Patriots, Steelers, Broncos, Colts, Ravens. And if you add the Bills to the party you can stretch it to 25 of the last 29 among six teams dating back to 1985.

Re: 2014 NFL Offseason
The NFC has had fourteen different teams in the Super Bowl since 1985 (Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Green Bay, New Orleans, Arizona, Chicago, Philadelphia, Carolina, Tampa Bay, St. Louis, Atlanta, Dallas, Washington), but eleven of those teams have appeared in it in the last fourteen seasons.Green Habit wrote:But here's one counter to Lament's fun fact, at least on the AFC side: Since 1995, 17 of the last 19 AFC Champions have consisted of the same five teams: Patriots, Steelers, Broncos, Colts, Ravens. I've never been down on Mike Florio compared to other people, but this story really makes him looking like he's throwing shit on the wall to see what will stick. This doesn't make sense for either team.

Sources: Browns nearly traded with 49ers for Jim Harbaugh

The Browns’ unpredictable head-coaching search nearly finished with what would have been the most unpredictable outcome of any head-coaching search since Jon Gruden was traded from the Raiders to the Buccaneers a dozen years ago.
Per multiple league sources, the Cleveland Browns nearly pulled off a trade with the 49ers for the rights to coach Jim Harbaugh.
A deal that would have sent multiple draft picks to San Francisco was in place between the teams. But Harbaugh ultimately decided not to leave the 49ers.
The 49ers could not immediately be reached for comment. Efforts to contact the 49ers continue.
The Browns declined to comment specifically on whether an effort was made to acquire Jim Harbaugh. The Browns characterized the search as thorough, and the Browns acknowledged that many options were considered. The Browns emphasized that the team is excited about its new coach Mike Pettine.
A deal would have been stunning, for several reasons. Harbaugh has taken the 49ers to the NFC title game in each of his three years with the team. Also, he would have joined the same division as his brother, Ravens coach John Harbaugh.
Which means they would have been squaring off at least twice per year, and competing directly for division titles and/or wild-card positioning.

EDIT: And now Florio takes a snide jab at Ian Rapoport, who tweeted this:

Re: 2014 NFL Offseason
Unfortunately, the NFL doesn't want people to slow their role, because it keeps the attention upon them. There was talk about pushing the draft even later--as well as something that is a horrible idea, pushing free agency to April--so that the NFL can get as close to a 12 month sport as possible.Monkey_Driven wrote:I'm just sick of the NFL draft talk in general. Amen. Outside of big name free agent signings I don't pay much attention at all until draft weekend & after that not until camps start opening up.Monkey_Driven wrote:I'm just sick of the NFL draft talk in general. The draft is 2 months away. Slow your roll people.
