i agree, i was thinking last night that would be a solid song live for ed soloridleybradout wrote:I love the vocals - I just wish he could do at least one live take where he gets the words rightGot Some wrote:Wish Ed re-did the vocals on this one.![]()
This is 4-5 star PJ to me, loving it more with every listen.
I think it could be one of the few songs from LB that Ed could work into his solo shows and sound really great

I was really happy they pulled this out in Charlottesville. Good tune. It fit perfectly after I Am Mine.
I might be able to get to an E-bow.

The build with each new verse is really well done. Some of my favorite vocals from Ed in years.

I love Matt's work in this song, the way he's pushing and pulling the verse around. I wish I liked the song itself more; I like the verses a lot, I think (as usual for me with latter-day PJ) it's the damn chorus pulling things down.

When my son is two, I hope to duplicate this moment.hlniv wrote:I had my two year old in the car with me yesterday, and was listening to PJ radio on Sirius, some random live show. Black was playing. Re: Song of the Moment: Swallowed Whole
I liked this song a lot from the very first listen but I was never a huge fan of the chorus, as someone else just mentioned. But this week, I was listening to it on headphones and for the first time I heard the neat finger-picking/arpeggio thing that either Mike or Stone is doing during the chorus... which I'm really loving right now. I think it all clicked for me now. As of right now, I'd say this song is the closest they've gotten to "classic PJ" territory in a while.

It's definitely the most joyful chorus they've done in a long time - I really love it and am surprised to hear people are liking everything about the song but the chorus. Maybe joy isn't for everyone...bluestate wrote:I liked this song a lot from the very first listen but I was never a huge fan of the chorus, as someone else just mentioned. Yeah, I noticed the finger picking thing going on in the chorus as well and it really made me like the chorus even more. I really wish that finger picking was a little bit higher in the mix, you can barely hear it. They've done that with a bunch of other songs, burying cool guitar parts deep in the mix, and it's a bit frustrating.

Anyone else surprised it wasn't the Third single? Cuz I can see it fairing well on Mainstream Rock Radio..it's the catchiest thing on the album IMO.

I've actually been checking this for my own live playlists because his lyrics flubs drive me crazy. Off the top of my head I don't think he has gotten the lyrics right for this or My Father's Son.
You would think the PRAMG would fund a larger/better teleprompter.
EDIT - You can add Got Some to the list of his live lyrical abortions that he has yet to sing correctly.

My second show ever Ed skipped the first verse of Release and it pissed me off so much.Kevin Davis wrote:Small ones that are easily recovered from are no big deal. Giant blank spots are rage-provoking.
