Went and saw Philomena. Nice movie. Pretty egregious product placement for Guiness.

kevin costner is terrible. name one movie he shined in other than dances with wolves? and even that is tainted by the rest of his movie career.

Some actors are less about their talent and more about their charisma. No he's not going to be playing George Washington any time soon. But I like his presence.

Costner was excellent in Eastwood's A Perfect World.

just finished Infernal Affairs. liked it just as much as The Departed.

have to say though, the music was atrocious and the fact that i kept thinking about it throughout the movie really sucked.

I respect you for that.

Costner seems to have found his place as action-drama supporting cast figure, though. He was just about the only humanity to be seen in Man of Steel, and kept his 2D character from standing out as 2D in that Shadow Recruit movie. He just shouldn't ever be expected to carry, is all.

*ms.

a less talented but more financially successful (i think?) actor than john travolta.
tom cruise got by on his movie star looks and appeal, not on talent. john travolta has had some good roles but i give him more credit for becoming a successful movie star after growing up with welcome back kotter. john travolta should be diverting some percentage of his income to tarentino for the rest of his life, basically.

tom cruise is fairly repugnant as an actor. i enjoyed risky business and tried to like vanilla sky, i really tried - but it failed, and mostly because of him.

the fact that both are prominent members of a batshit crazy 'religion' (cough, cough, money making scam, cough, cough) and are both in essence fairly batshit crazy themselves, either as a result of said religious organization or all as part of the package may influence my opinion of both of them.
of the two, tom cruise is way worse.

I have to disagree with Malice on Tom Cruise. I think he's a talented and charismatic actor, particularly on Michael Mann's "Collateral", even though I'm thoroughly creeped out by him and his cult.
