While I don't really see how you could take only those recorded scenes and produce a quality film, this trailer does do a pretty good job of illustrating that even absolute garbage can look pretty good with the right trailer.

Disney and Lucasfilm are excited to announce that principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, will commence May 2014, and will be based at London's historic Pinewood Studios.

This will be the first Star Wars film to start shooting in the month of May. Lucasfilm has documented the first day of principal photography for every installment of the Star Wars saga:

March 22, 1976 -- The first day of principal photography in Tozeur, Tunisia, for Star Wars. A crew of 130 ventures into the desert in 42 trucks and cars, including eight army trucks full of equipment. The first shot was completed at 9:35 a.m.
March 5, 1979 -- The first day of principal photography in Finse, Norway, for The Empire Strikes Back. The crew endures the subzero temperatures, frostbite, heavy winds, and avalanches to pull off the first shot within 65 minutes of setup.
January 11, 1982 -- The first day of principal photography at EMI Elstree Studios outside of London for Return of the Jedi. Although inside a studio, the set must weather a sandstorm in a scene that would ultimately be cut from the film.
June 26, 1997 -- The first day of principal photography at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England, for The Phantom Menace. Ending a long absence from the director's chair, George Lucas shoots a sequence in a bluescreen-lined set with actors Ian McDiarmid and Ray Park.
June 26, 2000 -- The first day of principal photography for Attack of the Clones at Fox Studios Australia. In their new home Down Under, the production crew once again photographs actor Ian McDiarmid three years to the day after Episode I started shooting.
June 30, 2003 -- The first day of principal photography for Revenge of the Sith at Fox Studios Australia. The first scenes shot feature Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, respectively, along with R2-D2.
It has also been confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII is set about 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, and will star a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces. No further details on casting or plot are available at this time.

Star Wars: Episode VII will release in theaters on December 18, 2015.

The Latino review claims Lupita has been meeting with Abrams for months. Even before the Oscars ceremony, to read bits from the script. Things are going in the right direction, as the report also states the Oscar winning actress is extremely close to signing on to the project...portraying a very mysterious major player in the Star Wars universe. The Hollywood Reporter clarified that Lupita is being considered for a role that is different from that of the young female Jedi, which they are also still auditioning for. This role will be separate altogether, and will mostly be the role of a Jedi.

Truly stunning and the best scene in the series, so filling.

This was always the heart of the whole Trilogy and why Empire is the best - I find it funny when film critics refer to Empire as being the best due to its 'Darker' nature, when these scenes are the best you will see in the picture and they are pretty much the most comforting, warm parent / child style talks you will find in cinema. The beating heart. It was wonderful. Idealistic. Transcending ideas of religion - belief. It inspired belief. For a hokey Saturday morning themed serial, they were gorgeous moments.




Below is a interview from Gary Kurtz who was the producer for A New Hope and Empire, It's 12 years old but he's incredibly frank over ALL ASPECTS of Star Wars OT and Episode I. Even as early as Empire, Lucas was hell bent on his "vision" as. I think it's the fairest dethroning of Lucas I've ever seen.

Kurtz's Return of the Jedi would have been a very different film and even darker and more fraught with danger than Empire had he had his way.

His comments on filmakers and how many don't have any original life experience and consequently their films don't have much to say or "realness", to them as opposed to those before the 1960's and 1970's. e.g people who lived through the World Wars.

The best media interview I've ever read on film, it's looong and detailed.

I also found out there was time when IGN did great interviews.
Kurtz and others were real secret behind the success of the first twos film and seemed to have hauled Lucas up, when he decided to get lazy.

For bonus LOL, look at everybody's eyes in this behind the scenes video, the horror in Rick Mac Callum's eyes and the cameraman. They're thinking it's "This doesn't sound all that smart, but he's Lucas, what reason do I have to say I'm right, it'll all come together in the end".
