Ha no. They cast a black actor as Johnny Storm and it's set off a nerd race war.

David Fincher to direct Aaron Sorkin penned Steve Jobs biopic.

:z:

I guess I'll have to wait longer for my Fincher/Flatliners remake dream.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gives his shrewd take on this years Oscars. And I pretty much agree with all of it. I just haven't seen Philomena yet.

He's a brilliant writer, and a great pop culture commentator, but he seriously misses the point of several of these movies.

I liked this succinct comment that could easily be applied to soooo many historical dramas or (ostensibly character-driven) biop pics: "But it will be shown in history classrooms and not English classrooms because, in the end, it is a depiction of history, not an exploration."

I also thought he nailed part of why Gravity was a fun and engaging immersion event, but not a particularly great movie.

I sort of agree. And sort of disagree. The Oscars are stale though, for sure.

I agree with his general premise regarding Best Picture as a category, but feel that he's confused as to what several of those pictures set out to accomplish (particularly Hustle, Wolf and Gravity). Also, the sheer daftness of the question:
The entertainment value is high, but what is the educational value?

I liked the original post, but the edit totally elevated it.

I'm not sure if I should be excited by this or not. I thought that Annabelle was one of the scariest parts of the film, but something tells me that they're just going to butcher this
