Re: The Work-Out Thread
Back to the gym for the first time since Monday. Did good, got in a solid weight workout plus nearly two miles in on the treadmill. I felt a little rusty, particular with some of the weights, but not as bad as expected. I plan on hitting it again tomorrow.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
i actually ran after i lifted today, just not as far as i've been running b/c i was tired as balls. i feel better physically running so i'm certainly improving, but i wanna incorporate running into my regular weight lifting routine. im cutting down on lifting and just doing 3-5 exercises, then running. days i dont lift i'll run twice as long. by the summer i'll be posting splits and whatnot. ok, probably not, but yeah, its going well. thanks for the advice again.turned2black wrote:How is the running going?warehouse wrote:one of the la fitnesses near me is closes, so everyone decided to go to the la fitness i go to all at the same time this morning.

Yeah, the first few times barefoot are gonna suck, but it's worth it. Barefoot in grass is just lovely, hopefully you can hit a park or something (without tons of dogshit) when your weather warms up. I have a park near me that I can do half-mile loops on.warehouse wrote:i ran last week on a treadmill in just socks. my middle toe on my right foot hurts like a bastard.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Got back to the gym both Friday and Saturday after taking a break because of my shoulder and the snow. Did really well, used the smith machine for squats and decline bench, used the regular bench and the incline bench for free weight bench presses, used the cable rack for more decline bench and used the rope on it for tricep, did some Scott curls and incline dumbbell curls, used the weight assisted dip and chin up machine as well as all the leg machines.
The gym was pretty empty both days so I wasn't in there with a crowd, but i still feel really good about finally using all the stuff i wanted to use

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Went back again today. Did a mile on the treadmill before hitting the weights. That was easy but apparently I worked more yesterday I realized, arms/chest being a particular struggle. But that's a good thing, right?

Did you work on arms and chest 2 days in a row? i did and was told it wasn't a great idea, though i felt like it was an overall good workoutBiff Pocoroba wrote:Went back again today. Legs today. Squats, supersets on leg and calf extensions followed by some walking lunges with plates. Lunges just flat out suck. 45 minutes on the bike in the evening, getting a serious sweat on.
Back and tri tomorrow, followed by sprint intervals on the beach.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Took that cardio & core class last night. Not the most intense workout but it gets the job done. I'm planning on going tonight for my usual routine.
I admit, I've gotten slack & unmotivated lately. Work's been draining my energy & I've become erratic in my gym visits and halfhearted once there more often than not.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Did okay last night; just weights though without cardio. Legs feel it a little bit this morning.
Going to be an every other day-er until I leave for New Orleans in a week. Mardi Gras always throws me off schedule but it's usually worth it.

Im still having some pain in my right shoulder blade area but it only seems to bother me after a lift but not during so i have just been trying to work through it, i did take most of the week off last week but it didn't make any difference so Im not really sure what to think of it

A little over 1.5 miles on the treadmill & some really good weight work. Got a sweat going and felt great leaving the gym.
Lighter crowd than usual for Saturday morning; the resolutioners have dying off the past couple weeks.

Re: The Work-Out Thread
I've been on a strict cutting diet in the last few weeks with carbs limited to lunchtime only, post-workout. It's been pretty effective as I've lost half an inch on my waist whilst keeping the gains on my chest and arms from the bulking phase. Fortunately, my cardio has come back to a decent level so I'm knocking out the 7.30 miles. I'd have liked to have been a bit better shape before hitting Asia, but very pleased on the whole.
Today has been a massive, massive cheat day and I couldn't care less!

Re: The Work-Out Thread
i feel like quite the wimp compared to you guys. i go 10 minutes on the treadmill
2 minutes at a 2.0 mph pace
2 minutes @ 6.5
2 minutes @ 3mph at highest incline
2 minutes @ 5.5 mph
2 minutes @ 4 mph
though the 6.5 isnt nearly as bad as it was when i first started. not sure how i did it but managed to drop 4.5 lbs this past week. hopefully it continues in this direction

Re: The Work-Out Thread
Yeah, they have been receiving really good reviews. I actually tried a pair on before I bought my latest pair of NBs. The sockliner is flawless with virtually no seams. Going sockless would be no problem. The toebox feels roomy as hell, which I'm a big fan of. They are also under 7 ounces and feel great. But they have a 9mm heel to toe drop, which in my book means they are NOT really minimalist shoes. I also worry about their durability, the outside of the shoe feels too soft and seems like they wouldn't last long on our desert trails.
So, I guess I'd say if they are your first step into the minimalist world and you are NOT planning on running trails, I'd go for it.
