I happened to know that the singer of WoD listened to his share of Pearl Jam back in his youth - as did most young lads born in the late 70's.

I admit to being partial to the poppier side of things. Sam Roberts Band's Lo-Fantasy has been an enjoyable listen. I've spun it repeatedly the past few days.

Slint and Grails Members Team Up as Watter
Image
While the upcoming box set of Slint's Spiderland is shining the spotlight on drummer Britt Walford's post-rock past, the musician has some new tunes to showcase too via his new project Watter. The band's debut LP This World drops May 27 through Temporary Residence Ltd.

Watter also features Grails member Zak Riles and is apparently the first "substantial role" Walford has undertook in a project since the dissolution of Slint, according to the press release. The first preview from the six-song set is opener "Rustic Fog," an instrumental track wrapped up in wah-wah guitar, krautrock synth ambiance, and a slow and steady drum rumble.

You can check it out in the player down below.

Watter have a handful of U.S. dates coming up with Om, and you can see the short show schedule beneath the tracklisting info for This World.

As for the deluxe Spiderland reissue, the set packages the original LP with 14 previously unreleased demos and outtakes, and comes with a 104-page booklet of photos and writings. It lands April 15 via Touch and Go.

This World:

1. Rustic Fog
2. Lord I Want More
3. Small Business
4. Bloody Monday
5. Seawater
6. This World

Tour dates:

04/16 San Francisco, CA - The Great American Music Hall *
04/17 Los Angeles, CA - Centre for the Arts *
04/18 Phoenix, AZ - Crescent Ballroom *
04/19 Albuquerque, NM - Sister *
04/20 Denver, CO - Bluebird Theatre *

* with Om
