Now the Bruins have the toughest schedule through March of any team in the East... something like 4 back-to-backs(?). Funny thing about games-in-hand, you actually have to win them to make a difference.
I'll take Chara protecting his star player over calling 911 any day of the week
and breaking your stick over a guys ribs isn't a "goon" move at all, nope, not at all

I'll take Chara doing that any day of the week too...because there's not denying it significantly hurt the Bruins. End of story.
And yeah Emelin cross-checked Seguin but neither of the two refs seemed to think it was a "goon move". Someone should get Julien a tissue.

so because the refs don't see it it's not a goon move? solid logic there...
and a Canadiens fan talking about getting someone else a tissue...that's rich...typical Montreal fan though..."we play the game the right way, Boston (or insert other team here) is just a bunch of unskilled goons"...no wonder your team is a bunch of vaginas

What's with constantly resorting to stereotypes? "Typical Montreal fan". Every town, every team, every rivalry has it's dynamics.
I always read the Boston-based recaps of these games because I like to see the report from all angles, and basically that's exactly what they're saying... that the Bruins play the game right and Montreal are a bunch of divers. "The Bruins stand up for eachother, and we don't dive or embellish, etc". And from the Montreal media, the Bruins are a bunch of goons who resort to intimidation over skill. It's an ageless debate, and yes, for the time being it's the Bruins camp that needs the tissues.

My hatred for the Canadiens and the way they play no doubt is a result of growing up in Boston...I don't have a problem with trying to draw a penalty, but when guys like Mike Ribeiro do what he did in the playoff series a few years back, and Subban does what he does (I'm gonna throw myself into the glass, hold my head, and then look for a call), it's just disgusting no matter what the uniform is. It's why I was so vocal about how the Canucks were such dinks in the Finals two years ago, and I'm a Vancouver fan. Call a spade a spade. I don't think there's an actual goon on the Bruins (in the John Scott mode), Thornton isn't a great player but he can contribute in other ways (though he looks awful this year). Maybe the stereotypes are overblown, but from where I sit, there's a lot more truth to the Montreal "embellishment" than there is to the Bruins being a bunch of "goons."
It happens on every team, but not in the way it does with Montreal. The Canadiens are drawing more penalties than any other team in the league. The Canadiens have 160 pp minutes so far this season. That leads the league and is a full hour more than the Bruins. That discrepancy isn't random.
Montreal isn't the only team to do it, but they're the poster boys.
well hell, if you really wanted to stick it to me, you could've found some choice Canucks highlights from the past 3 years...that would've hurt...it's actually painful to root for the Canucks right now with how they play

I would check PP Minutes/Game because the Canadiens have played 3 more games than the Bruins.
Montreal: 160mins / 22 games = 7.2 min/Game
Boston: 99 mins / 19 games = 5.2 mins/game
It works out to 1 additional minor penalty per game.

haha.
From my perspective it's very easy to hate the Leafs, but there haven't been any recent playoff series' or bitter defeats like I've experienced with the Habs-Bruins.
These numbers have me bothered. I feel like I'm missing something because I watch the games and it seems like the pp discrepancy should be much higher.

I assume the numbers southp posted are PIM awarded and not actually elapsed in gametime, right?
Because if it were actual gametime elapsed (which I doubt it is), then that would answer your question, since they have so many more PP goals than the Bruins.
