That isn't Bon Jovi. Huge difference.

It is hair metal though. Bon Jovi is pop rock to be fair.

Why are PJ fans hair metal? Why would they be appealing to them?

part of the appeal of a good cover is to be able to share in a common bit of musical/cultural history. I hate bon jovi like only someone from New Jersey can hate them, but to be totally honest if they covered living on a prayer or blaze of glory or some shit like that I bet it would be a ton of fun in the moment.

i think when people talk about "hair metal" they are really talking about the pop rock bullshit that came out in the 80s like bon jovi, motely crue, etc. i dont really like van halen, but eddie van halen is an incredibly talented guitarist. its pretty easy to see why someone like mike mccready would be dig it.

thank god bruce springsteen is also from jersey, so we'll never have to hear them cover bon jovi

i would love a hall & oates cover in philly. are they as unpopular as hair metal?

MMJ's cover of Home Sweet Home was pretty fun.

Ya I don't like Van Halen or Kiss but Bon Jovi to me is butt rock on steroids. I just assumed Bon Jovi was the hair metal that was being talked about here. If Bon Jovi is in fact what is being compared to Pearl Jam then it's pretty obvious it's the ol' Red Mosquito forum shtick at work. The two bands are 100% different in every single way. I do remember a picture Ed took with Bon Jovi at a Sean Penn fundraiser and it was a horrific site.

If Ed had ever decided to try a 'Zoo TV' style reinvention, it probably would have looked like that.

I thought Ed's reinvention was as "Lumberjack Jess" in 2006.

He has a beard, wears flannel shirts with jeans and work boots, and throws axes.

Yeah, calling him a lumberjack was way out of line.

I liked him better when he was trying to be humble, down to earth and relate-able.
A thousand cuts later, I'm not so sure he is even that good of a person.

Wait. Could Gene Simmons not be bothered to stop texting long enough to take a photo with Mike?

That's magnificent.
