Re: Pono Music
i threw in. i've never owned a real digital music player- i've yet to even own a smartphone- and after lugging my old cassette walkman(!) on a flight last november, i told myself i needed to get with the times. i really like most everything i've heard about the pono player, and knew i would be getting one of these instead of an ipod or the like. i wasn't planning on buying one right now, but seeing the artist edition "gifts" and knowing the ponos weren't going to be any cheaper when they are released, i pulled the trigger.
can't wait to hear that saliva hitting the mic.

bet next generation will be more like 600GB - first generation products always start small (relatively).theplatypus wrote:128GB
I wouldn't pay $400 for it, but since i don't have an ipod (there's an ipod shuffle floating around my house somewhere...) I'd at least look into this thing at under $200

There are still some $300 early bird packages you can get. I'm guessin the $200 packages went rather quickly.malice wrote:bet next generation will be more like 600GB - first generation products always start small (relatively).theplatypus wrote:128GB

Re: Pono Music
added this to the OP, as I just saw it now:
The PonoPlayer is designed to play PonoMusic with stunning clarity. However, the player can play almost any kind of music track including FLAC, ALAC, mp3, WAV, AIFF, AAC (unprotected).

Re: Pono Music
not a problem - in general, i like the idea of competition for big brand products, and appreciate Neil Young's intention to put out products that offer better sound quality, but jorge's probably right that it's something of a niche market.Stickman wrote:oh. Around 100 I would say.theplatypus wrote:Which is like 5 albums in HD FLAC
I'm not particularly interested in the player, it's the least interesting part of the equation here. What ultimately will decide it's fate is the quality of the actual music they will be selling. If they'll end up selling more or less the same masters as HD tracks does than they're doomed. If they end up actually providing really good masters, as in PJ albums that sound decent enough to even justify high res, then they may have a shot in the niche market.
