Re: Match BT: Even Flow vs. Gods' Dice
I can never remember the difference between the various studio versions... it was either the re-recorded single version (with Abbruzzese) or the remixed Ten Redux version (I think it was this one)... but recently I was listening to it and hearing the original slower, much more groovy version just awakened me to the awesomeness of this song in a whole new way... it's the sped-up, guitar freak-out live version that has really grown old for me... but going back to the original version has been surprisingly refreshing.

Yep. I remember hearing Boston 94 for the first time and flipping out over it again. Even Flow is one hell of a song, or it used to be.bluestate wrote:I can never remember the difference between the various studio versions... it was either the re-recorded single version (with Abbruzzese) or the remixed Ten Redux version (I think it was this one)... but recently I was listening to it and hearing the original slower, much more groovy version just awakened me to the awesomeness of this song in a whole new way... it's the sped-up, guitar freak-out live version that has really grown old for me... but going back to the original version has been surprisingly refreshing.

Staying power?
It has been on high rotation for over twenty years
Classic, scene changing rock song.
But as it is will dream of her tonight..

I'm agree, I think it's the better song, but fuck, I'm sick of it. I'd vote for Even Flow over God's Dice, but I listen to the latter more, and typically skip the former.

I'm referring to the repeating riff driving the song as being "inorganic". Not much noodling going on around it. The song itself has great energy, groove and body moving ability.digster wrote:I don't really hear formulaic or inorganic in that song, although I'd imagine what those words mean to music changes from person to person. I think I'm personally just burned the fuck out on that song. I'm way more likely to reach for Gods Dice today, but unlike other instances I'm not sure that's the fault of Even Flow.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.
