Oh, what the hell, I'll vote for Sweet Lew.

I am stupidly fond of it, I can't say the same for Small Town (and it's not as though it's going to matter).

Sweet Lew has the added bonus of being a basketball-related song, of which there are sadly too-few. I almost had to vote for it on principle. I didn't though.

I remember being so happy the first time I ever heard it - I've always thought Kareem was a dick. And that's even after giving him leeway for Flying High (that's Airport y'all) and his Ninja stuff.

Sweet Lew can't cut it in the realm of basketball songs when these two classics are out there...

The live versions have stunk for a long time but I really think "Elderly Woman" is a beautiful song. The studio version has that Dave A. cymbal touch that neither Matt nor Jack were ever able to replicate.

I really want Jeff to cover that Kurtis Blow song for the next Holiday Single now.

Indeed. I love pop songs that just blow straight through lyrically without trying to carve out the repetitions of a chorus. Parachutes is another one of theirs that comes to mind.

Basketball Jones is the touchstone against which all other basketball songs are compared. Thanks for the reminisce.
