Yup, and the 18-1 2007 Patriots come to mind, too.warehouse wrote:Dream Team

apparently his agent agreed in principle with both KC & TB, only to take those offers to Denver. Nothing illegal about it, obviously, but seems pretty sleazy.Green Habit wrote:![]()

Yeah, I just read about that this morning, very weird. That agent is probably getting reamed with angry correspondence from Chiefs fans right now.elliseamos wrote:apparently his agent agreed in principle with both KC & TB, only to take those offers to Denver. I mean, it sucks. But it is what it is. No rules were broken. That's business. Hopefully, Dorsey learned something from the experience.Green Habit wrote:Yeah, I just read about that this morning, very weird. That's still against NFL drug policy, though

Re: Denver Broncos
Definitely. And a winning culture helps. And honestly, so does having a franchise QB. It's about winning. And if I were a player, I'd certainly hedge my bet on the Broncos winning more often than the goddamn Chiefs.Green Habit wrote:Before I say this, I want to get the blatantly obvious counterexample out of the way.durdencommatyler wrote:I mean, it sucks. Other than perhaps Belichick I'd have to say that John Elway and Ozzie Newsome are the best GMs in the league right now. Elway has got to have some sort of fraternal mojo to keep reeling in these guys, starting with none other than PFM.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next year with the Broncos and any potential cap issues, as well as what happens with Manning.
I'm not writing this year off entirely, but I'm sensing a lot of potential heartbreak for the red and gold. But then, that's nothing new.

Re: Denver Broncos
People aren't paying attention on the Broncos' cap, they actually have a ton of space in 2015, something around $40-50 million not accounting for the Sanders signing. And if Manning retires, that goes up even further. Who knows what will happen after he retires, but at least the Broncos are preparing for it with Osweiler and Dysert.durdencommatyler wrote:It'll be interesting to see what happens next year with the Broncos and any potential cap issues, as well as what happens with Manning.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Chiefs actually might be the team in the AFC West that needs to win now. They're going to be tight against the cap in 2015, and they won't have Alex Smith under contract, either.

Re: Denver Broncos
The Chiefs aren't winning now. It's the same thing every year. The Clark Hunt Chiefs are about turning a profit, not winning championships. It's all BBQ and butts in seats. It's just enough to keep us coming back. And until we get a Peyton Manning, we aren't bringing in any major FA's. Those guys don't want to play in a small market without an elite QB. We'll build through the draft (which I like) and we'll hope we find a Brady someday to lure in enough talent/money to make a bid.Green Habit wrote:People aren't paying attention on the Broncos' cap, they actually have a ton of space in 2015, something around $40-50 million not accounting for the Sanders signing. I'm guessing Alex will get a new deal before the season starts. Berry will get reworked/extended. Any cap trouble we have in 2015 will be handled (unfortunately) by cuts. I'm guessing Flowers is gone. I'm guessing Hali (
And, thanks for the info on Denver's cap situation. I really hadn't looked into it. I just assumed they were up against it.

I'll miss Moreno and Phillips, but the good news is that it should finally snap the Broncos' long drought on getting compensatory draft picks--10 years, and I think it's the league's longest drought. Depending on how Beadles is classified, in 2015 the Broncos should get either 2 4ths and 1 6th, or 1 4th and 2 6ths.

Offense looks awesome as always, defense bended but didn't break. Pretty encouraging thus far. No penalties for the starters was really refreshing as well--I was going nuts on how they let Seattle score on half of those penalties.
Also, you rule, DT. Fuck that piece of shit Cox.

Re: Denver Broncos
Granted, it's preseason, but they look impressive so far. Very deep at a lot of positions. RB and D-line in particular will force some tough cuts. LB is one area where I've been concerned about depth, especially with Trevathan out. But Brandon Marshall has looked very good so far. Barrow getting hurt doesn't help though.Green Habit wrote:Offense looks awesome as always, defense bended but didn't break. Pretty encouraging thus far. DT might catch 150 passes this year, if pre-season is any indication. Manning will go to him a lot.
Osweiler's play has been very encouraging, and I like Quanterius Smith too.

don't know what that's about, but nice to see that whoever that is respects Manning and doesn't knock him the fuck out as i wouldn't put past some of these guys nowadayssGreen Habit wrote:GFYS, DJ Swearinger.

Re: Denver Broncos
Swearinger nailed Wes Welker in the head (who is now being evaluated for a concussion) and on the very next play, Manning burned him for a TD and in a likely career first got flagged for taunting by telling Swearinger what he thought, likely on the lines of GFYS.red calzolaio wrote:don't know what that's about, but nice to see that whoever that is respects Manning and doesn't knock him the fuck out as i wouldn't put past some of these guys nowadayssGreen Habit wrote:GFYS, DJ Swearinger.
