Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

well i guess that settles that

after matt cameron receives his 1099 for services rendered to pearl jam llc in 2014 he can return to SG full time and matt chamberlain can start hooking up with his old squeeze again

and we all live happily ever after

Indeed.

Had plans for this tour been in the air earlier, I wonder if Matt would've made a different decision. It sounds as though the band had originally planned, as most had presumed, a relatively quiet year compared to Pearl Jam.

At the very least, it's cool to hear they have plans to make a follow-up to King Animal. I'll ride the Cameron belongs in Soundgarden bandwagon all day, cause you all are 100% right about where he fits best (SG), but at the same time I respect his loyalty to PJ. Man, what a job, full-time drummer for Soundgarden and Pearl Jam.

even though I trust Matt Cameron's choice of a replacement, can Matt Chamberlain play real heavy music after years and years of 'The Cornflake Girl' ? can he handle, say, Jesus Christ Pose? :bammer:

I can't decide on this 1.
No-brainer for me... Saw NIN at RR once before, Trent rarely disappoints, and judging from the iTunes show, SG is in great form. Plus... It's Red Rocks, FFS!

but, but....No Cameron :\

Everyone that leaves an SG talks about how Cameron is the main focus....
But who has ever seen Matt Chamberlain play? Matt Cameron's gonna play with Soundgarden for a really long time. This is the rare opportunity to see a well respected musician and former Pearl Jam member fill in. I think its kinda cool. It'll be different for sure, but its still gonna be fun.

Last year I saw Bad Religion and Brooks Wackerman had taken leave over the passing of his mother, so they had another drummer filling in, and it was still a solid show.
No. Just no. You have to understand the musical chemistry the four members of Soundgarden have - it's uncanny. It's something you notice within 5 minutes of seeing them play. When they jam, they always know where they are going. When they improvise, it's always focused. Even when they're sloppy, they're still pretty tight. When they're tight, they're REALLY tight.

You can't fuck with that. Every member of Soundgarden is completely irreplaceable, and it makes me sad they're doing it, even if only temporarily. But then, money solves most problems.

I understand... Has Matt ever NOT played a SG show before this year? I think his decision really fucking sucks, but it's not about what I want... It's about the availability and access to see this show at a great venue, and I choose to settle for what I get rather than what I would have in my perfect world. Same with the LB album and tour last year...

BTW, Reeder... Great Blog on the Nirvana tour! Any chance you're still working on a wrap-up?

Feel free to read my rather out of date FAQ if you're looking for more info.

There will be one more post at some point, after which point my blog will turn into a regular blog about my life and such. I'm just too busy right now. It's finals week, we're moving, yadda yadda yadda.

Oh, and Zeb - good work on that FAQ. I didn't realize that was you until you pointed that out! I've been a fan of that page for eons. Without it there would be no SGLG!

Grabbed tickets to the show in Mansfield. Wont be as cool as seeing them a few years ago on their initial return tour, but still should be a good time.

I just have to say bro... This site harkens back to some of my earliest web memories of specific pages that I visited back then! So I have to say thanks for providing some of that initial joy on being able to surf and find specific info on bands I cared about then. I mean it! Hat's off man! And a very heart-felt thank you!

No probs!

PS. I contributed quite a bit to the Unofficial Soundgarden Homepage - including my FAQ - but I do have to mention that it was actually designed and maintained by my friend Seth Perlman.
