I just find both songs to have pretty simple basic lyrics
in one, hes lost something / want it back
the other? hes gone, hopes someones waiting for him to come back

in one he wants to take something old and unwanted and make it good / new / wanted again
the other, he wants to take something thats general bad, and make it good / happy / wanted
