Well, if it can be observed that neural processes that usually occur when one experiences color also happen to occur in said person's brain when they experience certain music (or sounds, idk if it has to be music), then it seems that would suggest synesthesia. The hard part is identifying these neural processes and their relationships to contents of the mind.
