This has no basis in fact. I just like defending Eddie.

much like women's rights, the pro-choice movement, vote for change

salesforce.com support is no different than civil rights and or suffrage

do you never want to encounter civil rights or suffrage?

let us not flee in fear from our progressive destiny

Wait, is that really true? I'm curious because one of the big defenses I heard for Pearl Jam playing that Oracle thing was that Ed was super tight with the founder or CEO or something like that...
First, Oracle CEO is one of the worst people on the planet. You're referring to Ed playing RealNetworks founder's birthday. It's so hard to keep track of all the events Ed has played in the past.

And in conclusion, if ya'll didn't care about the Oracle event or the Target event, why care about this?

The band fucking blows compared to what they were 10-15 years ago - and it's not just the shitty music they've put out. If you want to continue thinking it's the same thing, that's fine.

This a new song?

So if any of you guys had huge amounts of money and could hire pj or ed for a private party for you and your friends, you wouldn't do it?

I would. In a heartbeat.

Isn't that a Joe Strummer song off Streetcore? Its just the sort of song Ed would blandly cover and fuck up the words to, so I bet that's it....

I gotta agree. This band/Ed really, truly, genuinely blows these days. I suppose if the music was great it wouldn't matter but the music is just meh. Just the thought of any multi millionaire musician playing a show for some corporation called salesforce.com makes my skin crawl. This is like Justin Bieber-level shit, for realz.

And dude looks like a freakin' superdouche to top it off. You're 50 years old, cool guy. I put PJ on an equal level with Nickelback at this point. I wish I was kidding. That doesn't take away from the many years of great music, but this is yet another fuck you to the fans and a blatant cash grab. Even if the money went to charity, it's gross. You don't need the money Mr. Millionaire and salesforce.com ain't the only way to raise bucks if your name is Eddie Vedder. As always, the sheep on the main board are saying shit like, "I trust Ed." Go fuck yourself.

So would this be better?

Corporate Douchenozzle says, "Hey Eddie Vedder, if you play this private gig for us that'll take less than an hour, we'll give $1,000,000 to a charity of your choosing."

Eddie Vedder says, "Naaaah, no thanks, I'm far too cool for that corporate shit. My indie cred is definitely worth more to me than $1,000,000 is to that charity."

It's too bad that the person who suggested it was done for charity (dime) then posted that he had no reason to actually believe it was.

But anyways, I heard they made the last three albums cause someone was like "HEY PEARL JAM, RELEASE THREE SUBSTANDARD ALBUMS IN A ROW AND I WILL DONATE ONE GAZILLION DOLLARS TO THE CHARITY OF YOUR CHOICE." So by not loving those three records, you are basically saying you hate charity.

The problem is, their moneygrabbing in a lot of cases is in direct contradiction to the content of their art.
There's no crossover though, for me. Moneygrabbing is over there, art is over here. Terrible people with ridiculous beliefs/principles/practices make great art all the time. And I'm not sure anything can be in direct contradiction to sounds arranged in a certain way so that it sounds good to my ears/brain/mind.

The interesting thing about some of these posts is the way they approach an almost 'stalking my ex' level of creepy intensity.

Which, in a way, is exactly what they are.
