That would've made it darker, perhaps even moodier. Good thinking.

How come?
I'm kinda surprised that you think that...especially considering the less than stellar output of the last decade. I think Pendulum and Parachutes are the best songs the band has done in the recent era (last 3 albums).

Pendulum is an empty shell. It's like they remembered they were able to create some atmosphere but they couldn't be bothered to make a song out of it.

I like that observation Heathen.
I was really digging it upon the first half a dozen to a dozen listens. Now it just kind of bores me to death. Thy didn't do enough with it.

man pendulum remains my favorite piece of music they've written in forever. It's ominous and hollow and lonely and rich

Stopped liking this song when it became clear it was an anthem to erectile dysfunction and Ed's misfiring prick that he nicknamed "The Pendulum"

I get that its kinda hollow and could have been better, but I still like it. I kinda like the sparcity.

I love how large and almost jarring the acoustic guitar is when it comes in--how much it contrasts with what came before.

Love both parts to the song. One of the only times on the album Matt sounds great.

With the way Matt ends the song with his drumming, I think Grievance would work better.
