Re: The Chicago Bears
The Allen signing makes up for the Peppers loss and is a cheaper option.
With the other FA's on Def, we have a shot at mediocrity

Allen is the better fit on our D at this point. Not to mention he's younger and costs less.

I think the Bears have a fine shot of being better than mediocre, especially if they hit on a couple defensive players in the draft. Overcoming the Packers will be difficult if Rodgers stays healthy, but certainly not impossible.Fuck You Jobu wrote:The Allen signing makes up for the Peppers loss and is a cheaper option.![]()

I shouldn't rehash the past at this point, and it's going to come off as bitter ex-boyfriend-like, but Peppers completely underwhelmed me during his time in Chicago. So I'm honestly pretty excited with the recent changes on D.

I was referring more to the Def being mediocre than the team (which was 8-8). The offense will be fine ... is this the Bears?Green Habit wrote:I think the Bears have a fine shot of being better than mediocre, especially if they hit on a couple defensive players in the draft. Re: The Chicago Bears
I disagree. Last year was an anomaly where everyone was hurt and the people that came in, not only underperformed, but didn't know their assignments - so I think that's why he (inexcusably) slacked off.Kaius wrote:I shouldn't rehash the past at this point, and it's going to come off as bitter ex-boyfriend-like, but Peppers completely underwhelmed me during his time in Chicago. He avg'd double digits in sacks/year and was consistently double-teamed since most the rest of the line wasn't very good (except Melton).

When I was younger I never understood the legend of the Bears/Packers rivalry because at that time Packers/Vikings was the major rivalry of significance in that division. It's been nice to see this rivalry flourish in the recent years.

Even worse, I married a Wisconsinite and her whole family thinks I resemble Rodgers. There's photoshops floating around. Also, when I say fuck off, it's a term of endearment.spike wrote:Kaius wrote:Oh fuck off packer backer

Re: The Chicago Bears
loving the little arms race here between Packers and Bears. The talent gap has really shrinked between the two since Emery has taken over. He completely turned over the offensive roster in year 2, and he's doing the same thing with the other side of the ball here in year 3.
Who knows what they do at 14 in the draft. They badly need a safety, and they have no depth at corner. But DT is where I would still like to go. I think you can wait and get some decent secondary pieces in the 2nd 3rd 4th round.
