whipping, release is overrated, overplayed, so worn out, I like it but I'm kinda fed up of it
I am not in the business of being liked anymore

Re: Match FK: Release vs. Whipping
whipping is a good, solid fast song that is somewhat diminished by Vitalogy being saturated with titanic songs. But Release, even if somewhat overplayed, is one of those songs that can catch you off guard and just make you go 'wow'.
The pre chorus and chorus are just magical, especially the I'll ride the wave.../I'll wait up in the dark... parts

They're both top notch pearl jam songs, I just find myself listening to Whipping a lot more than I listen to Release.

Re: Match FK: Release vs. Whipping
the "whippin" from that show is probably the best live version of that song. when he sings "dont mean to push, but im bein shoved" might be some of the best vocals we ever got from eddie vedder live.Iholdthepain wrote:It gets no better than this...stip wrote:whipping is a good, solid fast song that is somewhat diminished by Vitalogy being saturated with titanic songs. as with satan's bed, I may prefer the Atlanta 94 version to the actual studio track

Satan's Bed doesn't even have an ending at that point...
4/3 is fast-approaching... 20 years...
We should all have an Atlanta '94 circle jerk... Maybe like the March Madness thingy.

Absolutely. Super disappointing when I heard the studio cut on Vitalogy. Never understood why until I realized it wasn't Dave A on the studio cut. The atlanta 94 version is easily the definitive version of the song

Release has been my all time favorite song since I was 11 or 12 years old.

Two good songs here, and since it's a landslide, I'm voting for Whipping just because.
