The official new thread about Opeth

Post by Mojopin »

There simply HAS to be a new thread about Opeth! So, I created one...

Opeth are awesome. Haven't really been a fan since Blackwater Park but those first 5 albums are great esp Morningrise and Still Life

Watershed was fantastic. I really hope their next album is a full on thing like that.

I loved Heritage, don't get me wrong. But between that and Akerfeldt's collaboration with Steven Wilson I think I've had enough "mellow" for a while. It would be nice to have him back to beast mode for the next Opeth album's all I'm sayin'.

oh that wasn't directed at you. but i agree. as much as i enjoyed Heritage i'd like to see them return with a heavier album next time. i don't know if i'd wager much money on that outcome though.

i'll be seeing Opeth next month with Katatonia. i opted for one of those meet & greet packages before the show so i'm pretty psyched about that.

Seen them before? I saw them on the Watershed tour and it was even better than I expected it to be.

I think they're worth a meet and greet. Despite all the attention, they don't seem to take themselves too seriously.

That's what i was thinking. i've never done a meet & greet before but figured since they're playing close by it might be worth the extra expense.

I saw them on the Watershed tour and the Heritage/Hunter tour they did with Mastodon last year. they're a lot of fun to watch play. simple stage setup, minimal lighting, no frills. kinda like PJ in that regard.

I really dig them.

I caught them several years ago w/ high on fire and baroness. they pick some killer opening bands.

They do. I think they toured with Mastodon not long ago. Wish I had gone to that.

I first got into Opeth when they were touring behind Watershed. I went to their show primarily to see Baroness (one of the best live bands around, in my opinion). I hadn't really listened to much of their music up to that point so I wasn't expecting to get much out of the show, but Opeth blew me away and I've been a big fan ever since. I loved Heritage, and regret not catching them live on this tour.

Also, I love to watch interviews with Mikael. He seems like such a down-to-earth and honest dude.
Now, what would Oscar Winner® Michael Caine do?

Sounds like quite a trip. A bit bummed out there's no death vocals, but it sounds like it could be majestic.

do the dulcet tones of opeth exacerbate or dampen your rage problems?
