The drummer is proving really difficult for me. Most of the guys I am considering wouldn't be known to many people.

Big whoop. Post a vid or two to show us what they're all about. And go with your gut.

There have been at least 4 undrafted names dropped in this thread. And I won't be held responsible for the consequences.

Problematic how? What are you thinking, bada?
Well part of what goes into my thinking is personalities. Like with Stip's picks he choose two of the most egotistical single minded musicians of all time. True alpha males in the musical sense with all encompassing musical visions. They are followed not lead. They might collaborate as long as it's going their way. Those two guys couldn't get through a cup of coffee together nevermind write a song.

With your picks you also choose alphas but with more reasonable personalities. To a point. I don't really see them working on an acoustic level. I don't know what Jack would add in that setting.

On the electric side Jack is more of a quick sonic explosion of blues and punk. I don't see Neil as a blues man. His rockers tend to be lumbering and plodding with explosive and extended solos. Solos that are longer than most of Jacks songs. Vocally they could probably blend together nicely. I guess I have a hard time seeing how either guy elevates the others songs. Now if you had taken Jack and John Bonham......

I gotcha. Valid points. Personalities are a big part of this for me, too.

But I guess I just see the potential. Especially if we gravitate away from the blues and into a more country rock spectrum. If Jack White can work with and add to the likes of Loretta Lynn, and Neil can do the same with the likes of Emmylou Harris, that's all the evidence I need to think they could enhance each other. Also, Jack does extend those guitar moments live. I could see him and Neil getting really playful while riffing back and forth. If Neil can jam with guys like Mike McCready and Stephen Stills, I gotta think he could jam with Jack White.

Also, though I totally agree with the alpha thing, Jack has shown in the past that he's willing to learn and absorb and listen to the greats. I think (all conjecture, obviously) that Jack would relish playing with a guy like Neil.

But I see what you're saying. And it's why I knew it would be a controversial pick. I was hoping Bonzo would still be around by my next pick, but I was almost certain Jack would be gone. And I was right. It is what it is.

Thanks for the reply.

Jacks distorted guitars on Cinnamon Girl or Ohio would be very appealing. If you are thinking country rock and that is a great idea don't forget a steel guitar guy.

Very nearly my first pick but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get a drummer that I'll be happy with. Great pick btw - had to go up high.

Isn't Bonham kinda wasted on Jeff Buckley though?
