Really though? I've never really thought of Smile as being anything particularly special. It's a good enough song, but it's not even one of the better songs on No Code.

Please, don't make me choose! Smile is a fantastic little song...but at times, no song in Pearl Jam's catalogue gives me cathartic release like Black. I feel like some of the recent incarnations of the tune (with organ and extended crowd participation and faux-acoustic guitars) have lowered it to "another sing along," but it still retains some of its immense power despite that. This is my favorite version of the song ever, and it swings my vote to Black:

I voted for Black, because I think it is the better song, but I'm absolutely happy with either of these going forward.

Surprised to see Smile winning thus far. Hope it stays ahead. Black is an undoubtedly great song, but given the choice, I'd go for Smile.

Also, I've never cared as much for Smile as many on this board obviously do.

I went with Smile because I like it and I was just thinking about dirtyfrank0705 today, so yeah...that's why.

Guessing that Black will pull away with this one though.
