B-Sides By Era
So I've had trouble figuring out decent ways to listen to all of Pearl Jam's non-album tracks. Then I thought about arranging them by band era, creating compilations that are about as long as the average album, able to be easily listened to in one sitting. There are, I'd say, 3 era's of Pearl Jam non-album tracks. Early ('90-'94); Early Middle ('95-'98); Late Middle ('99-'04).
Here's what I got so far:
-Early PJ-
-Alone
-Hard to Imagine
-Footsteps
-Wash
-Dirty Frank
-Hold On
-State of Love and Trust
-Breath
-Yellow Ledbetter
-Brother
-Just a Girl
-Early Middle PJ-
-All Night
-I Got Shit
-Long Road (I know I Got Shit and Long Road are kind of on an album already, but not really.)
-Dead Man Walking
-Black, Red, and Yellow
-Don't Gimme No Lip
-U (I've only ever heard the version on Lost Dogs, I don't know if I should use the version from the Wishlist single or not. Is there much of a difference? Is the Lost Dogs version recorded after '98?)
-Leaving Here
-Gremmie Out of Control
-Whale Song
-Last Kiss
-Late Middle PJ-
-Sad
-Hitchhiker
-Harmony
-Fatal
-Drifting
-In the Moonlight
-Education
-Thunderclap
-Strangest Tribe
-Undone
-Down
-Man of the Hour
-4/20/02
-Someday at Christmas (It's a Christmas cover, so I'm not real sure about including it, but it's pretty great.)
These compilations aren't in any ordered tracklisting yet.
Any comments? Suggestions? Songs I've missed? Particular versions of songs I should use? Tracklistings?

Re: B-Sides By Era
A couple obvious omissions ...
Crazy Mary
Leatherman
Other Side
Ole (falls outside your defined tim periods)
Plus plenty of others, depending on how obscure you want to go (stuff like Cready Stomp from the Vs. reissue)

"It's unfair to call me a racist," Vedder explains as he prepares to throw another axe. "I don't even see race. It's just not something that matters to me."BurtReynolds wrote:Post Riot Act Racistgrab.
A second later the axe is embedded in the side of his house, some feet away from the intended target, and he's sipping a Corona. "Truth is," he shrugs, "I'm far more concerned with skin color."

I edited it. I just heard it called that one time, and thought it sounded pretty funny. I don't wanna offend anybody too much. I honestly didn't know it could be a racial slur.CopperTom wrote:Header post fixed. Quasi insensitive joke removed.

Also, what is the criteria for including cover songs?

Definitely can't forget Leatherman.... I'm still pissed that's not on Lost Dogs.

Re: B-Sides By Era
If you start a post 04 sequence you can include Let it Ride, Ole, and Cold Confession, and some christmas singles. I don't know if you want that, though

Re: B-Sides By Era
You forgot Sunburn, which is probably the best thing they recorded in their middle period that didn't make it on a record.

Though it was technically never a B-Side. Still.

as far as I know it is comprehensive. Everything that has made it into at least semi-wide spread circulation.
