What they really should've kept is "The Fixer"'s original title, "Anal Fissure".

Yes. Yes, it is.stip wrote:Otherwise they seem to try and play the songs that create the best possible concert experience. That's not pandering.

Eddie also road-tested Can't Keep, I Am Mine and Thumbing My Way at solo shows before Riot Act was released. The whole band played I Am Mine in 2001 a couple of times, too.

The End and Speed of Sound were played by Eddie before Crapspacer came out too.

yeah, a few more than I thought, although I wouldn't count Eddie shows (and if we are then I guess they road test quite a bit)

No, no it isn't. It would be pandering if they were sick of those songs and didn't feel like playing them anymore, or, if by playing them, they were not doing what they wanted to do. If Pearl Jam likes playing the songs that they play, and that the songs they don't play they tend to not play because they either don't enjoy them as much or find that the songs detract from the concert experience they want to create that's not pandering.theplatypus wrote:Yes. Don't make me dig out that quote from the PJ20 outtakes where Ed says he wishes they could be more like Neil Young and play whatever they want without worrying what the fans will think.stip wrote:No, not it isn't. Re: The band's biggest mistake
Given the 'enthusiasm' they show for such setlist staples as Evenflow I would argue they don't enjoy some songs anymore. Playing some of those tunes a million miles an hour kind of screams 'lets just get this over with' too....stip wrote:No, not it isn't. They should write some new songs people will like, it would fix a lot of problems...

When Mccready shit himself on stage.
I've never danced at a concert like I've danced at a Pearl Jam concert.
