It's just a unique song in the band's catalogue; Stone's open-tuned guitar and Ed's weaving melody gives the song this great drone-like quality that they don't often explore. It's just a great sounding song, musically - really pleasing to listen to. I legitimately think it's one of the best things they've ever done.

Tension that builds and builds and builds before finding release in a bridge that is quite possibly the finest moment of their entire career. Iconic lyrics scattered throughout, hooks that are irresistible without being grating or pandering, production that suits it perfectly, and a top notch performance from Ed. Unless for some weird reason Ben E. King's Stand By Me appears in this tournament, there's probably nothing in the world I'd vote for against Corduroy. One of only a handful of songs ever written that I have literally never gotten tired of and can listen to and enjoy in any mood that I'm in.

While I love Corduroy, it is this sort of sentiment that makes it the most overrated song in the PJ catalog, in my estimation.
