Just before I scrolled down I thought to myself, "There HAS to be a bad pun to this."

I actually chuckled. *tips hat*

So, I was looking up Free Comic Book Day events, and I caught that Toys R Us is giving away LEGOs that day:

I would totally buy that for the Han side and never wear it cause of embarrassment but stare at it admiringly in my closet. If it was $30 that is.

Ranking the light saber duels:

6. A New Hope (Vader/Obi-Wan)
5. Attack of the Clones (Dooku/Anakin/Obi-Wan/Yoda)
4. Return of the Jedi (Vader/Luke)
3. Revenge of the Sith (Anakin/Obi-Wan)
2. Phantom Menace (Maul/Obi-Wan/Qui-Gon)
1. Empire Strikes Back (Vader/Luke)

That's not great, but it's better than I remembered it. I guess if you accept that their old and weak it's OK, but Lucas shit all over that excuse with Yoda, Dooku, and Palpatine.

Uh, and the fact Vader was much stronger appearing in Empire and ROTJ

That being said -

From what I gather is "A New Hope" was a shot in the dark and nobody had a fucking clue the film would actually get released at the time of filming. So, such things are easier to overlook

Given that in both fights with Luke, Vader spends at least some of his time toying with the kid and letting him think he's doing better than he is, I just let it carry over that maybe he did the same with old man Obi Wan.

Really, in each original trilogy fight the duel aspect coincides with revealing dialog, and is just a physical manifestation of a bigger conflict. In every prequel fight, we get flashy bullshit that means nothing, often involving characters we couldn't care less about ("oh I do so hope that redface mcbadguy doesn't end up killing quiggle jon, who actually I do hope dies so ok nevermind"). The fight at the end of Sith was more retarded than Jar Jar ever was, because it was the climax of THREE FILMS and worked so stupidly hard to be epic...and yet never made anything other than the funniest or most unremarkable decision at every single point and counted on us being invested mostly because of the conclusion we already knew was coming.

My assumption is that, while he'll fix a lot of what was wrong with the prequels, JJ can probably be heard even now singling out the lightsaber fights in the new movies as "the one thing they got right," because they match his own so-busy-it's-boring action style so very, very well.
