i agree with this guy and all, but doesn't it strike anyone as funny that a guy writing for CNN Money is talking about how a part of him just died upon hearing this news?
it's funny because these guys are already dead, amirite?
i feel like pearl jam is some cruel joke played on people my age by the baby boomers. 'haha, you suckers! you thought we were the only ones capable of trading in our ideals for a fist full of cash'

90's rock coverband called Angry Flannel
My god.

The whole article is like one great big layered joke.

It's a little problematic for me, though, because my money was on the Vatican being Pearl Jam's next big bed buddy. I know, I know, "you lost the pot, get over it, Diggum." Shut up. But I don't think anybody had Dropbox, so I'm not sure what happens next?

So many things are odd with this...

First, why on earth is "Pearl Jam" investing in a file sharing service? I understand individuals looking at it as a good investment, but how is it that a band as a whole thinks that a tech company is a good investment for the collective group? Since when does a band become a funding vehicle?

Second, how the fuck do Hadley and Condi get hooked into a company like dropbox? Condoleeza Rice as a board member for a file sharing company? Eh? How is she a good choice to guide the company's business decisions? The fucking elite in this country are literally tied into everything. Everything.

Last, but certainly, not least - why in god's name does a dude writing an article on CNN Money think it's relevant to write an opinion piece about the questionable moneygrab of a rock band? I basically agree with him, but it's just way out of place on a site like that. It is an irrelevant piece to likely all of his readers.

Why? I have worked in the stock market my entire life and have felt disappointed by Pearl Jam's actions the last decade as much or more than most of the people on here. Why can't I be a capitalist and not like it when a band I respect does a hypocritical 180?

I think "hypocrisy" is a tad strong.

This would rank pretty low on a list of things Pearl Jam have done to annoy me.

Is it just me, or are PJ/Ed just a complete embarrassment now?

I can't imagine how lost and alone the part of you that still hopes for a reassuring answer to this question must be. It's gotta be really tragic...like those people who record Minecraft songs and make music videos for them, or something.

I totally agree; I'm just referring to any outrage at the band RE: money issues from a capitalist.
