i'm reminded of the bon mot bandied about in jazz circles, often attributed to thelonious monk: "writing about jazz is like dancing about architecture." i extrapolate more meaning from that gem than monk intended, applying its principle to art in general. i'm not so sure words can adequately capture the ineffable act of participating in the consumption of art.
