this mix is expanding my boundaries in a way that is most welcome, because i'm both a curious and grateful person, unlike birds in hell.

In terms of ways to get around flakes...

I know this kind of changes the whole structure of the project, but what if we just had a different member upload a mix each week or so (one made without any specific recipient in mind). Then anyone who wanted to participate in the thread could post a review of it here. People could then review as many as they're interested in or have the time to review, and the odds of someone's mix not getting any review would be almost non-existent.

We could even keep the identity of the mix-maker private until the next mix is posted, or until someone guesses it.

Kind of. But the mixes would be posted one at a time on a regular, scheduled basis as opposed to just whenever someone makes one.

I've tried so hard to get into the mix I received but I just can't do it.

I feel bad about this. I really am sorry for not doing a real review but the mix was something that I really struggled to get through. Almost every song was just not a good fit with any of the kinds of music I enjoy. As I recall there was a lot of punk. I can't stand about 99% of all punk music. There were also a bunch of songs that weren't in English, and I really enjoy sorting out the lyrics in new music. That made something I really like about songwriting impossible for me to enjoy. I wish I had given a complete review, but I didn't want to offend the person that had put it together by saying that I really didn't like the style/genres or composition of anything in my mix. Obviously, the person that put together my mix tape deserved better than what I would have been able to give. I really enjoyed putting together the mix I submitted and if given the chance I'd love to play again. If its any consolation, the person that submitted the tape that I got surely would've hated everything about the tape I made. Our tastes are drastically different.
