Pearl Jam fan opinions that VEX, CONFOUND AND BAFFLE you

Post by Jorge »

And I don't mean our own little quirks-- for example, I completely understand why most Pearl Jam fans would hate a song like "Evacuation", which I love. But what are some fan opinions that thoroughly confuse you?

For me, it's the constant hate that songs like "Gods Dice" and "Green Disease" get. A lot of people hate these songs very passionately and I just don't get it. I'm not saying they're great songs, just that they fall within the scope of (what I feel is) a style most Pearl Jam fans would enjoy (loud, fast, melodic) as evinced by their reactions to other songs in a similar vein ("Hail Hail", "Worldwide Suicide").

What are some Pearl Jam fan opinions that leave you scratching your head?
stip, this is a safe place.

For me, it's the constant not enough hate that songs like "Help Help" and "Green Disease" get. A lot of people don't acknowledge their hate of these songs very passionately and I just don't get it. I'm saying they're terrible songs, and that they fall within the scope of (what I feel is) a style most Pearl Jam fans would agree is awful (generic, dull and on Riot Act) as evinced by their reactions to other songs in a similar vein ("Ghost", "Get Right")

Not sure what you're going for here. If you'll notice, I didn't make a statement about the general quality of the songs, but their styles.

There is a glossyness to a song like green disease and even god's dice that isn't there on a song like WWS, if that maybe explains this?

I get annoyed when people mistake 'tired of' for 'sucks'. Just cause you are burned out on a album or song doesn't mean it isn't any good. I think this happens a lot with Ten.

Because belligerently throwing your support behind one member of the board without really thinking about the topic or what has actually been said seems to be what "well-respected" RM veterans do, I'll say: Team Skitch!

i still cant get over that stip said faithfull sounds half finished. i get that if you dont like it you dont like it, but half finished just seems absurd to me. i think its one of the more thought out and craft pj songs. something like wishlist sounds half finished. faithfull sounds like the nailed exactly what they were going for.

I think he is too. And you know what, fuck him. When I reply to a post with "Team X" it's not for a lack of thought, it's because that person has expressed my own viewpoint well enough that I don't need to add to it. In fact, I have to think about it for a minute to make sure there aren't parts that I disagree with.

yea i have absolutely no idea what stip means by half finished. gone could be seen as half finished, or inside job, or most of Vedder songs turned into PJ Songs. Songs that the band adds little to nothing to the finished product....

But faithful? That is well thought out and damn near brilliant.

This isn't about stip though.
