it was probably funny to name a pet george foreman for a brief moment in the 1990s, then it obviously stopped being funny, but do you all think enough time has pass for it to become funny again? i'm thinking of getting a dog.

I'd go for Buster Douglas. Buster is a better first name for a dog.
