"Okonokos" arrived today. Even though it was listed as "new" condition, the box was sorta beat up; however, the records are in perfect shape (after a dusting). Sounds amazing...I can't not head bang to "One Big Holiday." Totally worth $40

This may interest someone: LP reissues of Sonic Youth's 80s discography.

Been on a My Morning Jacket kick ever since I got "Okonokos," and this morning I got an eBay alert for "At Dawn" at a pretty reasonable price. Snatched that up!

Go to Kim's Video and Music they're closing their doors soon and everything is marked down. Other Music is good, as are any of the Academy locations. Mercer Records and Used Books is a favorite, right around the corner from NYU. And I also really like A1 Records and Turntable Lab. All those are all in Manhattan.klehtun wrote:can anybody recommend any shops to hit in NYC/Newark area?
For Brooklyn, there is an Academy in Greenpoint and Rough Trade just opened. But I'm sure there are better stores out there. I'm just not too familier, it's been awhile since I've gone record shopping out there.
Newark? No fucking clue.

My suggestion for Newark is to get out of Newark as fast as you can.

Southern Lord is repressing two great, long OOP Earth LPs. You can get Hex and Bees from their site, the color options are all sold out, but a handfull good ole black vinyl is still available. So stoked to replace my copy of Bees Made Honey. I remember the faux bibe cover coming apart in my hands and having to junk it after the fire.

Yeah, part of me is bummed the vinyl won't be gold like the older copy. But fuck it, I love that album and will be happy to have a replacement.

Spinning some Chuck Berry right now. Something about putting on some of these old timers on vinyl really tickles my nugget.

There's a cool little record shop here selling these. Speakers built in but they have an output too. €65. ($80 or so). I'm not sure.
