I would live to hear a better version of this someday because, despite all this, it is one of my favorite pj songs ever.Birds in Hell wrote:Playing S/T now.
Life Wasted was enjoyable.
World Wide Suicide has to be one of the worst SOUNDING songs in their catalogue; Matt's drums sound like he's tubbing away on cardboard boxes, Ed's guitar sounds like it's being transmitted through a broken transistor radio and the digital clipping is intolerable.

I would say life wasted through parachutes. Everyone's complaints about Ltrp is how I feel about unemployable.LetMeSleep wrote:Comatose through Big Wave is a great run. One of my PJ faves actually.Birds in Hell wrote:Comatose and Severed Hand are still a pretty good time.

that makes sense. The lyrics aren't going to really bother you (I like them on LTRP and don't on Unemployable) and my issue with Unemployable is most that I don't like how Eddie sounds, not how he sings. They are kinda similar songs.

Re: General Pearl Jam Praising
Unemployable is a great song. The pop hints in the melody and the playing sound much more natural and fun that most of Backspacer, and the production is actually obscuring a pretty cool main riff in the verses. I think the song suffers a bit from the 'shorter is better' mentality; it's not a punk scorcher, it needs a little time to build, but it's over in 3 minutes.
If S/T had been an EP that ended at Unemployable, it still probably would have been the worst thing PJ had done by a fair margin up to that point, but I would definitely have a much better view of it than I do the whole album.

I can still listen to the self titled album like 2006 was yesterday. The album and tour were such a great year.

It wa a great time, they promoted the album here in NY when it came out. Did the show over at irving plaza and the show at lettermans (which I was at) and then hit the road on the east coast like well oiled machine. Ditched the midwest except for a few shows with petty and then went up the west coast like a beast. The santa barbara show they changed it up. Finished out with two strong shows at the gorge.
Then hit europe and killed it down under. Where did the good days go?

Pearl Jam Garden from Tampa 2000 is very nice, and Washington DC 2000 is my favorite PEARL JAM show ever. They were excellent until the last 2 albums really in my world. S/T was good and I liked it alright too! And Pearl Jam shows are always a energetic spiritual gathering. (Some more than others- east coast shows are always good.) Pearl Jam will make a great record soon, because its fucking time.

Re: General Pearl Jam Praising
Pearl Jam s/t is ok to be a culmination of everything up to that point, and its an appropriate title as well. I admit enjoying that one more than Riot Act Backspacer, or the new one with the CBS Eye Lighting Bolts on it. Any 90's PJ or even 2000 is good.
