Mack does not seem like a Tampa 2 player at all. Who's going to play the Derrick Brooks role? It'd be fun to see what CJ Mosley could do in that defense.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:id be happy with Watkins or Mack, but im worried neither will be there at #7E.H. Ruddock wrote:Hoping Tampa takes Watkins.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
My feeling is that if Mack is there and Tampa takes him he will play a few different spots, he would play OLB in 3 linebacker sets and when they switch to 2 LBs then he would move to DE. He would probably have to put on a few more pounds but i could see them doing that. Unfortunately though with Atlanta looking like they are switching to the 3-4 i don't see any way they pass on him.Green Habit wrote:Mack does not seem like a Tampa 2 player at all. Mosley would be nice for a true Tampa 2 MLB, but i would hope if he is the pick it would be after a trade down, or if he falls to the late first then a trade up.
Im not a big fan of any of the top 3 QBs but im thinking one of them could be a Buc, especially after they talked to Bortles for the 2nd time today

Mack is a LB through and through. He'd be wasted at DE

I want to know who was the player the Pats let walk in free agency to get that compensatory pick.

And it could have been Tim Rattay.warehouse wrote:thats probably the best draft card in nfl history, considering the round
This post got bottom paged, and I wanted to make sure you saw it:
I also forgot that the Chiefs gave up their 2nd in the Alex Smith trade, so this guy is penciled in at #23 on my mock.Green Habit wrote:From the offseason thread...
No BYU linemen, but I just discovered that Xavier Su'a-Filo is from Provo and went on an LDS mission. Pencil him down for one of the Chiefs' first two picks.warehouse wrote:any byu lineman? letting 3 dudes walk, they might draft 2-3 OL with their first 2-3 picks.Green Habit wrote:Chiefs let three starting OL walk. warehouse, I think you know damn well what position that team is going to address in the first round (again).

This year it works well for me though, since there are a bunch of social events I'm committed to at the end of April.

Re: 2014 NFL Draft
Man, this late draft start has really killed interest in the thing. I'll still be tuning in as always, though, and hopefully I have a little company in this thread.
I'll go ahead and do my typical first round mock of what teams should do, not what they will do.
1. Texans: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville (I really don't get why people say he's going to fall like a stone. I think the extra time is making teams really overthink things.)
Rams trade #2 to Vikings for #8 and other considerations
2. Vikings (from Redskins via Rams): Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
3. Jaguars: Blake Bortles, QB, Central Florida
4. Browns: Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State (yep, the first four picks are all QBs. I'm becoming more of the opinion that if you don't have a franchise QB, you keep trying until you have one.)
Raiders trade #5 to Cowboys for #16 and #47
5. Cowboys (from Raiders): Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina (OK, yes, I still don't want the Raiders to get Clowney. But McKenzie wants to hoard picks and the Cowboys need to try to get an elite pass rusher if they're going to make the Tampa 2 work.)
6. Falcons: Anthony Barr, LB, USC
7. Bucs: CJ Mosley, LB, Alabama
8. Rams (from Vikings): Greg? Robinson, T, Auburn
9. Bills: Mike Evans, WR, Texas A&M
Lions trade #10 to Giants for #12 and another pick
10. Giants (from Lions): Jake Matthews, T, Texas A&M (The Giants do this to leapfrog the Titans and get this steal before they do)
11. Titans: Trent Murphy, DE, Stanford
12. Lions (from Giants): Kyle Fuller, CB, Virginia Tech
13. Rams: Hasean Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama
14. Bears: Aaron Donald, DT, Pittsburgh
15. Steelers: Louis Nix, NT, Notre Dame (this seems like a perfect Steelers pick)
16. Raiders (from Cowboys): Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson (ouch, it really hurt to type this.)
17. Ravens: Zack Martin, T, Notre Dame
18. Jets: Odell Beckham Jr., WR, LSU
19. Dolphins: Ja'Wuan James, T, Tennessee (yes, he won't go this high, but they badly need help here and I have question marks about Lewan and Kouandjio.)
20. Cardinals: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, Eastern Illinois (Carson Palmer could break down any time now.)
Packers trade #21 to Broncos for #31 and a future 3rd
21. Broncos (from Packers): Stanley Jean-Baptiste, CB, Nebraska (I hope the Broncos get him much later in the draft, but due to all their compensatory picks next year I could see them make a move up and leapfrog CB-needy teams here.)
22. Eagles: Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State
23. Chiefs: Xavier Su'a-Filo, G, UCLA (as warehouse and I said earlier, this makes way too much sense.)
24. Bengals: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
25. Chargers: Dee Ford, LB, Auburn (another painful one to type.)
26. Browns (from Colts): Marqise Lee, WR, USC
27. Saints: Jeremiah Attaochu, LB, Georgia Tech
28. Panthers: Cyrus Kouandjio, T, Alabama
29. Patriots: Stephon Tuitt, DT, Notre Dame
30. 49ers: Demarcus Lawrence, LB, Boise State (Aldon Smith insurance)
Packers trade #31 to Jaguars for #39 and a late-round pick (the value just isn't good for the positions the Packers need help at.)
31. Jaguars (from Broncos via Packers): Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington (I'm just not buying that RBs should be as devalued as they've become.)
32. Seahawks: Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Florida State
And, a bonus at #33...
33. Texans: Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo (sorry Mecca, but I have this feeling he's going to have some growing pains. He should be a good player, but it may take time.)
Oh, what the heck, let's fit the Redskins in as well (sorry, Colts):
34. Redskins: Lamarcus Joyner, CB, Florida State

You really think Mack will last until the 2nd round?

I think that whatever Coach/GM/Owner selects Manziel early in Round 1 is setting himself up for one of the biggest draft day busts ever...

It pained me to put Manziel that high because I hope that he busts. But after more thought I had to reconsider.Coach wrote:I think that whatever Coach/GM/Owner selects Manziel early in Round 1 is setting himself up for one of the biggest draft day busts ever...

I think that you have him right around where he's going to be taken...I just question the NFL exec who makes that decision.Green Habit wrote:It pained me to put Manziel that high because I hope that he busts.
