I do agree, however, that they should consider longer tours, especially since it seems like a big waste of both their resources and natural resources to get all that gear and the touring machine roaring for a few shows here and there every year.
Not if those shows include big festivals and massive arenas to maximize the buck. It probably doesnt do them good to go to out of the way shows like they used to do with ticket prices at $50

I dont either but i imagine its a much sweeter deal than putting a show on yourself.liebzz wrote:I must admit that I have no idea what festivals pay for their headliners.Strat wrote:liebzz wrote:To me, this sounds like Stone Gossard talking about touring a new album, and getting kinks out of the new songs and with that getting into rhythm as a band. Re: The band's biggest mistake
His statement was in response to releasing the entire tour on cd. He talked about being embarrassed about how some shows sound because it takes them 10 shows to get in the groove, but that he knew the fan base wanted to hear the shows, warts and all.liebzz wrote:To me, this sounds like Stone Gossard talking about touring a new album, and getting kinks out of the new songs and with that getting into rhythm as a band. Yeah, I really hope that doesn't happen again.Hatfield wrote:Playing the stadium shows in Australia is the bands biggest mistake in my opinion. Those people who've given Pearl Jam some of their best shows get some football stadium shows?! That isn't the band I grew up loving and it still shocks me that they care so much about playing to as many people as they can in the shortest amount of shows.

And yet these were easily the best shows of the 2009 tour. It's too bad you couldn't have had them in much smaller venues.Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, I really hope that doesn't happen again.Hatfield wrote:Playing the stadium shows in Australia is the bands biggest mistake in my opinion. Yeah, only about the first 10 rows could even see anything. Everyone else in the stadium was pretty much watching the screens. Every single seat ticket was too far away to even be able to tell if anyone was on the stage.Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, I really hope that doesn't happen again.Hatfield wrote:Playing the stadium shows in Australia is the bands biggest mistake in my opinion. I don't think so, I think it died with Megaupload.dimejinky99 wrote:Is your compilation of that tour still online Spenno?Birds in Hell wrote:Yeah, I really hope that doesn't happen again.Hatfield wrote:Playing the stadium shows in Australia is the bands biggest mistake in my opinion. If you can wait, I might rework it at some point soon.

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask: was there ever a FLAC version of Olé available?
I know it was only available from the 10C in a free MP3 download, but was there ever any radio promo discs floating around (for example)?

If I can ask a favour Spenno, will you leave Force of nature on there if you rework it, please?
I've never heard it at all live or on bootleg and I'm eager to hear a good boot version.
Thanks in advance!

1. "Model, role model, roll some models in blood...get some flesh to stick so they look like us." Or, marry one. To quote my brother, "If 1994 Ed met 2011 Ed, he would punch him in the face!"
2. Boom. Really? 10 years later and he's still there?
3. Ole
4. 1 month tours, although I guess at 48-50, that's all they can manage now.
5. Touring Europe. Every fucking year since '06. And pretty much ignoring the south and the west. And everywhere except Boston, Philly and Chicago.
6. Touring South America AGAIN before touring the south. Or the west.
I'm glad Soundgarden got back together. And AIC for that matter. Fuck off, PJ. It's my longest touring drought ever and I don't miss you.

It was Jeff said that. Not Stone. We've always known Jeff wants longer tours. Stone, not so much.Hatfield wrote:Heathen wrote:
