Hi-Fi was the first REM album that me stand up and take notice. And I adore every song on that thing. I struggle with a lot of the REM catalog. They have some truly phenomenal songs, but they don't have a lot of albums that I love. Hi-Fi, Automatic and Collapse are excellent. Up and Monster are really, really good, but each have songs I don't care for. Everything else is really uneven, I think.
Which is further evidence that I really don't belong in an REM thread, let alone a tournament.

Not bad at all. It helps that there are basically no bad songs on AFtP. And no songs that feature rappers.
Funny you say that. I consider parts of Radio Song to be the most AFtP sounding stuff the band has that's not on that album.
I love rap music, but it does not mix well with R.E.M. Not a big KRS fan either, so that doesn't help. I really like the two R.E.M. songs that feature rappers - except for the parts where the rappers come in.

I didn't like the KRS one at all, but the Q-Tip one was pretty good.

I realized during the last R.E.M. tournament that there's a version of the the Q-Tip one that has Stipe instead of Q-Tip. It's much better.
