I'd say so, some solid source people are banking that it's not some huge glitch which I also doubt. I made reservations for SPAC yet I'm still holding my original June 7/8 for the slight chance the list changes. I'd also love to make Berkeley work again.

Unless Chicago = East Troy the I doubt these. I can't see them skipping Alpine Valley.

Alpine apparently did not sell well last year, so I think Chicago may be the 2014 replacement especially given the July 4th/5th dates.

alpine n1 2013 wasn't anywhere near full, but n2 was definitely full. i think these dates are legit, but i would not blame the lack of an alpine date on last years ticket sales- alpine holds 40,000 people, even a half sold alpine is more tickets sold than at most of their shows. since they're in bed with live nation, which put a lot of money into renovating northerly island (making it 30k attendance, up from 8k), i suspect they wanted dmb there this year to help sell the venue as legit. the summerfest date is the de facto alpine date, but alpine isn't available as a venue during the week. so this is what we get.

i'm an alpine goer every year, largely because those shows are more than just concerts given the tailgating and whatnot, so this is disappointing. i'm not going to try for any other shows. unless they come to mpls/st. paul later in the year, looks like i won't be seeing them this time around.

I hope this isn't right. Summerfest is fun but not even close to Alpine. As you note, tailgating at Alpine is awesome. No tailgating at Summerfest. $5 a beer gets expensive.

I'm curious if it will be acoustic DMB and electric DMB or something like the Dave and Friends tour where D&T played a 5-8 song set and the full D&F lineup followed after the set break.

In January 1999, Dave and Tim embarked on their longest tour - 39 shows spread across the country, largely played in theaters and college auditoriums. Unique versions of older songs, new covers and tracks from Before These Crowded Streets – performed acoustic for the first time – played a prominent role in the tour setlists. For our next DMBLive, we have selected our first show from this tour - a late stop at Kingsbury Hall on the University of Utah's campus.

Highlights of this release include the first Dave and Tim version of The Last Stop (a song that the duo has only played one other time) & Stay (Wasting Time) - which was played in 6/8 time for most of that tour. Both of these Dave and Tim songs are being released for the first time! Also included is an early version of Bartender that at this point was beginning to resemble the song that it would become, and Seek Up, which contains the outro that outside of this tour has only been performed during full band shows. Finally, new covers only played that tour include Lyle Lovett's If I Had a Boat & The Rolling Stones' Wild Horses, the latter played on 12-string guitars. Those two songs, along with both of Tim's solos, are making their live release debut. 3.3.99 J.T. Kingsbury Hall, Salt Lake City, UT, has been digitally mastered and is available in its entirety.

what im really curious about is the "special guests" part of the announcement. eddie vedder is free this summer.....

I'd imagine it wouldn't be much different than guests at other shows, though the acoustic portions leave the door open to a few more musicians better suited for such a performance not necessarily electric guitar or sax.

The reissue of Remember Two Things, the band’s first ever official release, features the original album expanded with two previously unreleased bonus tracks: early studio versions of “Pay For What You Get” and “Typical Situation,” newly mastered by original album engineer David Glasser. An expanded booklet includes full lyrics and rare and previously unpublished photos of the band.

LiveTrax Volume 30
The latest Live Trax series installment is drawn from three August '93 shows at The Muse on Nantucket Island. Around this time, the band was starting to multitrack a handful of their live shows with the hope of using the material to create their first album, Remember Two Things (11/9/93). None of the material on this Live Trax release has been released until now!

The band recorded portions of the three night run at The Muse. However, technical issues prevented the band from capturing all three shows in their entirety. What has been mixed and mastered is representative of a relatively new band bringing its increasingly potent live show to a new brand of listener. It’s easy to imagine the band writing and performing all summer on the island as you listen to spot-on renditions of songs that are now classics.

This compilation of The Muse shows has it all - from the first notes of Satellite to the last notes of the raging Halloween encore. Lie In Our Graves features LeRoi’s screaming sax solo; Pay For What You Get takes us back to the song’s roots as a Dave and Carter duo. Minarets>Blue Water is a powerful pairing that doesn’t exist much of anywhere in its full form. Hearing the segue here in this environment is a real treat.

Live Trax 30 is a perfect companion to the reissue of Remember Two Things and takes the listener to a certain place and sound in DMB history. There couldn’t be a more comprehensive picture of what it was to witness the band at this time.
