There's just absolutely no comparison between this and Future Days, for example.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Geez, I'm pretty sure I prefer "Future Days" to this. At least "Future Days" sounds like a song with some level of craft, and not just him vamping some nonsense "homanaboba yabadabeeba" lyrics over a pretty rudimentary minor-chord progression

Stip, I mean in the way he approaches that song compared to this one. I don't hate FD, it just doesn't make me feel much. While listening to this, you actually get the impression that there's something at stake. With FD, it's just a pretty little song sung predictably, the way any number of singers could have sung it.

Unused lyrics in Eddie's notebook:
"One, two, three, and four / All holding hands walking out the door"
"I never believed in love / Until you came and swept / All my cobwebs away"
"Love / It's love"
"As the sun rises in the east / You'll be waiting for me in the west"
"Never knew I could feel / The love we have is so unreal"
"Lover / Love her"
"All those dreamless nights / Were waiting for your light / To scare away my past"
"Alone now and I'm not sure / Who I am anymore / Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you? Where are you?"
"I was a bridge / Suspended over the ocean's waves / Taut / Until the earth gave way / And I fell into your arms"
"Man's final stand / On the shoulder's of his lover / I'll hover/ Above my past"
"One, two, three, and four / All holding hands walking out the door"
"I never believed in love / Until you came and swept / All my cobwebs away"
"Love / It's love"
"As the sun rises in the east / You'll be waiting for me in the west"

That actually sounds like the title to a new PJ song.bodysnatcher wrote:Unused lyrics in Eddie's notebook:

There's a very real chance that Future Days is my least favorite song released by a band that I at one point genuinely loved. I can't think of something I like less off the top of my head.stip wrote:LEAVE FUTURE DAYS ALONE!!!!!!!!

Please don't insult "Furry Happy Monsters" by comparing it to "Future Days".

I like it when Stipe tells them they can be happy again, and they go apeshit.

Re: *new song* I won't hold on (?)
Found these lyrics for "I Won't Hold On". Pretty sure they're mostly incorrect but still:
Speak your mind!
I can't take any more
In my home, on the floor
A blind house, no walking while
Nothing is as hard to say goodbye
I won't hold on
I am here
I won't live another live in indecision
I won't hold on
I have begun
Like scissors in an incision
Come so far
Hold me there
Don't let go, it's you, that hand
I can't take this
I can't hear this
You can leave it
Like my spirit
I won't need to last for long
I don't care light, I often throw
I can say nothing is
Nothing hears, nothing here
Nothing is, nothing is
Nothing is, nothing ahead
Speak your mind!
I can't take any more
In my home, on the floor
A blind house, no walking while
Nothing is as hard to say goodbye
I won't hold on
I am here
I won't live another live in indecision
I won't hold on
I have begun
Like scissors in an incision
Come so far
Hold me there
Don't let go, it's you, that hand
I can't take this
I can't hear this
You can leave it
Like my spirit
I won't need to last for long
I don't care light, I often throw
I can say nothing is
Nothing hears, nothing here
Nothing is, nothing is
Nothing is, nothing ahead

So turns out he played this again the next night, only it was a different song with different lyrics. Glen Hansard did backing vocals. Didn't like this one as much as the first. Lost some of the raw intensity of that version.
