Re: 2014 Tour Rumours
I don't think this tour will have the problems of getting tickets like the east coast had last year or some west coast shows. Demand will be far less, it's like the tour is set up to prevent people from doing mutliple shows and traveling with the show dates and locations.

If you are trying for multiple shows, don't put the same show 1 & 2.Strat wrote:Was there a consensus on whether or not just putting in for GA or Res is better than putting in for both?
Someone described the process pretty damn well to me. I'll have to look for that post.

Re: 2014 Tour Rumours
I ended up just putting in GA for all of them. If I won GA for both LA shows and italy, Im sure I can score them for Denver, Lincoln and St. Paul

Re: 2014 Tour Rumours
Here was the good explanation. They fill GA before fulfilling reserved requests. No one got reserved for Sweden.jdopj wrote:It's an easy process to figure out, it's just figuring out what shows are actually going to be more popular than others. (excluding the obvious places). I would assume that KC, STL, Clev, those types of places you should get with your 3rd and 4th picks but who knows.Birds in Hell wrote:Exactly.jdopj wrote:Phoenix for example: if you had Phx res #1 and Phx GA #4 they drew your GA pick because of so few requests for Phx GA. Happened for me.Birds in Hell wrote:From memory, despite a great deal of confusion at the time, the drawing process ended up being pretty transparent and predictable once you understood how it worked.broken iris wrote:CopperTom wrote:While it makes sense, I don't think it's true. People with lower priority picks have gotten tickets over other peoples higher priority picks for the same show.
I don't think we ever proved that happened though some people certainly suggested it. It's likely they misunderstood that GA and RES count separately for each show, thus it's possible for someone to miss out on GA for a show as their #1 and someone else to get RES for that same show as their #4. The only weird thing I remember happening is that some people only chose RES and ended up in GA, which I assume means too few people picked GA.
They drew the entire GA section for each show before looking at reserved requests. I think there was a presumption among many that they'd draw winning members for each show and then assign tickets based on preferences.
For someone who didn't attend any of those shows I spent way too much time understanding (and explaining) how the ticket drawing worked.
You never had to decide those types of things. Those are the shows you would just go on the site and buy.
After experiencing GA first hand, I would much prefer those, even with my low number.

Quad Cities is a sure thing. Lincoln, Minneapolis and StL are all my maybes.

Lincoln seems safe, but MN and CO will probably be the most sought after shows on the tour.E.H. Ruddock wrote:just quoting for later use...Strat wrote:Im sure I can score them for Denver, Lincoln and St. Paul

I think Milwaukee and Denver will be the toughest tickets.

Cincy is like an hour from Louisville. They aren't playing my town either. And I would have preferred Louisville (see ya at Nick Cave and Forecastle btw), but I'm still stoked.

Looks like Detroit is the hot ticket:
Detroit, MI - GA Standing 69%

Re: 2014 Tour Rumours
By population, the Twin Cities is significantly bigger than any other town on the tour. Also, the 'please play MN' thread on the Pit has been going on for a long time, MN fans are ready for a show. Really have no facts other than that.CopperTom wrote:MN? Why?mkay0 wrote:Lincoln seems safe, but MN and CO will probably be the most sought after shows on the tour.E.H. I will almost definitely do the Quad Cities show. That's about 1.5 hours from where I live, which will be tied for the shortest distance I've ever had to drive for PJ. I probably wouldn't want to drive any further at this point given the show they're probably going to play.

i love how people assume that bands on the level of Pearl Jam actually sit down and choose the cities they tour by handhlniv wrote:No Louisville

I was holding on to one little thread of my future fandom on the off chance that they might finally actually play my hometown after 20 years, perhaps after a nice new arena opened, and even in the midst of a tour where they are playing similar midwest cities, including fucking Quad Cities and Lincoln, NE.
But, alas, no. PJ has under-delivered for me yet again. Quite the streak of disappointment they have going with me right now.
