About 1 hr 45 min from downtown louisville. About 1 hr 20 min from my house.Merc wrote:Cincy is like an hour from Louisville. They aren't playing my town either. And I would have preferred Louisville (see ya at Nick Cave and Forecastle btw), but I'm still stoked.
Yes, easy trip for me. Still, would have been such a different experience for me with a show in Louisville. I could have done so much more....
And this Cincy show is on my wife's birthday. So, there's that little wrinkle for me to think about, too...
Just not sure it's worth it anymore. 1st shows of the tour are usually fairly limited and lame in my experience, also.
Maybe I can swing a biz trip to Denver. I could have some fun on that one...
I guess I'll need to give this some thought, as my gut pissed off reaction wears off from seeing Louisville shut out yet again.

Didn't the 2003 show sell the poorest of all the US dates in 2003? I read that but I am unsure if true.mkay0 wrote:By population, the Twin Cities is significantly bigger than any other town on the tour. Also, the 'please play MN' thread on the Pit has been going on for a long time, MN fans are ready for a show. Really have no facts other than that.CopperTom wrote:MN? I think Milwaukee and Denver will be the toughest tickets.

If history repeats, the 2nd to last show will be the best show.

Ed has always pushed that notion, but I have seen many 2nd to last shows and although they were great, the three tour closers I've seen topped all of them.Chloe wrote:If history repeats, the 2nd to last show will be the best show.

Louisville would have likely been the first show of the tour had it made the cut. It sounds like it was always between Cincy/Louisville.hlniv wrote:About 1 hr 45 min from downtown louisville. Also, tour opener in Pittsburgh last year was amazing, best out of my 2013 which were Wrigley, Pitt and Buffalo. Just sayin'

I entered for Tulsa and Milwaukee. If Milwaukee odds drop too much, I may switch to St. Paul or Memphis instead.

Those three are all pretty shitty shows, IMO. And I was at wrigley and both Worcesters. Hartford has its moments I guess.
That dumbass baseball player really took the Pitt show to new heights, though. Maybe you're right.
There I go with hypotheticals again

West coasters aren't even home from work yet. The odds, if they truly are dynamic, won't be stable for 2-3 days and will likely skew all over the place at the last second.

First time I heard him say it was Charleston 1996. West Palm Beach was better.Chloe wrote:This sounds made up.Hatfield wrote:Ed has always pushed that notion, but I have seen many 2nd to last shows and although they were great, the three tour closers I've seen topped all of them.Chloe wrote:If history repeats, the 2nd to last show will be the best show.
Saw DC 1998....West Palm Beach was better
In 2000 I was lucky enough to see 9/5/00. MUCH better than the night before in DC. Ed referenced the whole 2nd to last show deal at that show as well, saying that the closer felt better.
2003 - Hershey was good. Wish I was at Holmdel.
2004 - Kitchner was definitely better than Asheville
2006 - I'm in the 2nd night of the Gorge camp, but hard to argue that it was better than the first night. I thought it was.
Anyway, so glad they are coming to Denver. Not the 2 night run at Red Rocks I was hoping for, but......I had to miss Charlotte because of moving. This will more than make up for it. (PS. So glad I moved to Colorado. This place is amazing!)
