Re: REM song tournament: Round 3 voting 5/20-5/22 (p.49)
Listen, for christ's sake, everybody had good teams! I mean like GOOOOOOD teams. I'm just upset that my two favorite teams are already out. It makes me question things. Like what does it all mean? And what am I doing here? And does any of this even matter? Big questions. Questions I never thought I'd have to ask.

Do any of you make playlist for these tournaments? I normally do, and then listen to it on shuffle. For this one though, I was so behind on a lot of stuff, I have just been listening to Up / Reveal / Sun / Accelerate / Collapse via spotify. I'm also going to need to buy / download all those albums. After that, I'm looking forward to hearing those latest releases from last week.

I made every team's playlist, and I should be embarrassed.

Did you mess with track order at all? I'm not sure I'd like my team very much as a straight playlist. I'd want to move some songs around.

I put all the teams in chronological order, with the non-album track at the end.durdencommatyler wrote:Did you mess with track order at all? I'm not sure I'd like my team very much as a straight playlist. I'd want to move some songs around.

You get a nice perspective on the progression of the band that way.

I quite like this idea. I think I'm gonna do this over the next few weeks.Kaius wrote:You get a nice perspective on the progression of the band that way.

Re: REM song tournament: The Finals! (5-23 to 5-26)
If I do an album by album matchup, I get a tie (6-6 with 4 ties), but there are a lot that I'm unsure of. So I guess I'll go with my gut and pick Lament.

Platy's team was strong, too. Grabbing Low at No. 15 was a steal, too. I'm not a fan of the studio version of The Great Beyond, but I do love this song live, so I did consider that when judging.
Congrats to all. Everyone gets a trophy (not).

Re: REM song tournament: Round 2 voting 5/17-5/19 (p.48)
i should have paid better attention, i missed the last voting round.
as before, simple ratings will determine my choice
++ absolute favorites
+ songs i really like a lot
[] no overly strong feelings either way
- songs i just don't like
Lament vs. theplatypus
each team has three (++) and one (-). lament's mid-round selections were his strongest, and someone nabbing 'country feedback' as #1 was as given as given gets. theplatypus' strongest selections were in the top half, though i have no strong feelings on his #1 'the great beyond', while also getting a heavy personal favorite in 'low' in the late rounds.
so, as i look at the selections by round, it's theplatypus' top heavy list and late steal in 'low' that puts him in the winner circle.
winner: theplatypus
