No, it's a really good movie, absolutely. I might watch it again over the weekend. I will say that I think the futuremutants look dumb as hell.

Re: X-men : Movies (and all other Mutant related things)
i think they picked the "future" mutants because they are fan favorites while not HUGE stars in their own right. Blink died within 4 panels of her first marvel 616 appearance but became a fan favorite during the Age of Apocalypse story line. Sunspot has always been a new mutant and has a cool powerset that they deemed wouldnt translate well on the big screen, though a black figure glowing yellow with white pupils i think would have looked fairly cool
bishop is also a love him or hate him character. he was badass when first introduced (uncanny 312 or theres abouts) but then they turned him bad during the second coming story line and after (though trying to redeem him now)
they could have picked some others for sure but i think while wanting to make a good movie they are also throwing the fans some bones

but it did a lot of lil things the other movies dont do.
Avengers TRIED to give itself emotional weight with the whole Coulson / needed someone to avenge, in the end its simply super heros putting on tights to save the world. This movie just had so much more emotional weight to it IMO but like i said, im bias, ill take the X-men over the others anyway.
the avengers had essentially nothing that was emotionally engaging, but it was such an utter triumph of fun, witty spectacle that I could care less. It was the pinnacle of escapist entertainment. The action almost always sucked in the Batman films but they were so amazing because the action was a backdrop for the psychological struggles of the character, the philosophic issues it raised, and the battle for the soul of a city. You don't need to have both if you are great at both, but it's nice if you can have your cake and eat it too

Young Magneto really shines in his super villain greatness
it wasnt just "hey lets put on our tights and save the world, well meet for pizza afterwords"
and the mass destruction that has been sooooooooooo over the top common in all these comic book movies lately? was limited to RFK stadium and the White House (well, and the entire world in the future) It was nice to not see 5 million civilians miraculously saved by a couple super heroes.

Yeah, the big climactic scene was a welcome change from what we've seen in recent superhero movies.

Not sure what I would give it. It's not just the future mutants that look bad. It's has an all around cheap made for tv look.
Storywise, It's a bit of a mess but I agree the climax was great. Magneto rules.
Maybe give it a B-.
Oh and I love that Storm has one line and delivers it terribly. Classic Halle Storm. She sucks.

Outstanding work here. Great story line to tie up the future to the past, characters you actually give a shit about and
Glad to see that Mystique got such a big role in this one.
Young Magneto was awesome once again. The dynamic between he and Xavier is what really makes these movie great, old or new versions.
Another great thing about his movie is that is shows you how Wolverine ended up
Best part of the movie: the stadium lift. I didn't see it in 3D but I bet it looks awesome.
and after the credits
- Spoiler: show

Re: X-men : Movies (and all other Mutant related things)
An interesting side note, Im betting the writers didnt realize they fit into the actual comic book continuity
from Dec of 1970 - June of 1975, X-men were more or less, cancelled (the original comics were being put out in re-print but no new issues came out) so...
also after a 2nd viewing, Id have loved to have seen

Its not really a spoiler (as it was talked about openly before the movie came out) so im not going to spoiler itBurtReynolds wrote:btw,

in the comics, they use Rachel Summers (a telepath) to send Kittys (Shadowcats) conscience back to her younger self, which, you would fully expect a telepath to be able to do.
In the movie however, they were going back to 1973, Shadowcat is not alive yet, so that ruled out sending her back, the logical choice was Logan, as Hugh is the face of the franchise. I think the reason they used Shadowcat was 1 - to keep her involved like in the comics, and, to leave Charles there helpless as everyone around him died. Other than that yeah, its a stretch of her powers, Ive never seen her do anything like that in the comics. But its not the first time a movie has taken liberties with a super heros power set. Id have loved Kitty to even say, as she was explaining it to Logan "I have no idea how this works? but it does so just go with it"

Saw it yesterday and it was ok. way better than those Wolverine movies...i was surprised on how weird the photography was, it looked really really digital sometimes and i kinda hate that.
It might be the best use of Wolverine in a movie though.

RFK ringing the White House however more than made up for it.
