Your refusal to use upper case letters may explain part of it. I'm sure your English teacher loved you.Alex wrote:i'm a high school dropoutturned2black wrote:I'm impressed. just starting jogging for the summer. I've gone about 4 times now. I can almost complete 2.5 km. Not sure if that is abnormally bad, but I am going to keep working on it. I was a great runner in high school.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
Great stuff, dev. Getting to 2.5k within 4 runs is a really good start. Just listen to your body, so you'll know when to pull back and/or rest. I don't think it'll take you long to out do the fat slobs in this thread, like t2b (Dev wrote:just starting jogging for the summer. I've gone about 4 times now. I can almost complete 2.5 km. 10 miles in 72 minutes
Couldn't sleep last night, so I ran at 4 a.m. Legs were fully recovered from Saturday's little desert jaunt, but I felt pretty slow. Perhaps it's the 5+ pounds I have gained since settling early into my summer decay. I may pick up some yoga to offset the oncoming flabbiness.

Mellow early morning run. Beautiful sunrise. Glad I decided not to drink last night after a rough week of work. 37 out. 36 back. Decent finishing kick. Feel like I've lost a step, but I have already switched to "maintenance mode" for the summer, so I could really give a fuck.
Also, to the RMers who have PM'd about running stuff, I'll answer your questions this weekend. Sorry for the delay.

7.5 miles in 2,400 in elevation change in 66 minutes
Trail was packed. Brought a handheld and ate a GU at the saddle after not eating breakfast. Not great, but not awful either. Even(ish) split.
Gonna hit Humphreys Peak in Flagstaff next weekend.

Re: The running/exercise streak thread
Got in a five mile or so trail run while in Saratoga Springs this weekend, really great park to run in. I've yet to run the trail that has access near my house, plan on hitting that up Sunday for my long run of the week.
Six weeks out from my next half, I'm going to focus my training on sustained speed. Been a bit bumpy finding a comfortable pace on my own, but the few road races I've participated in have evened it out a bit. It's far from a blistering pace but I'd like to finish Jamestown in under two hours.

That's a perfectly acceptable finishing time for a half. Look forward to your race report.oasisfan35 wrote:Got in a five mile or so trail run while in Saratoga Springs this weekend, really great park to run in. Couldn't sleep. Even split. Decent finishing kick. Probably shouldn't have run because I'll be running Humpreys Peak with the best ultrarunner on the planet tomorrow. Luckily, Saturday's his "easy" day.

11ish miles with 7,000ish feet in elevation change in 2:44
Buddy rescheduled for next week, but after getting no sleep I drove up to Flagstaff and hit Humprey's Peak anyway. Kinda went better than I thought. Despite my battles with Valley Fever this year, the elevation seemed to have no effect on me. I kept a nice, but steady pace. Trailhead says it was 4.8 miles to the top, but that's a dirty fucking lie. Luckily, I read online that there are 3 "false peaks", so I knew to keep going until it looked like I would fall to my death. Summit in 1:48. Finished in 2:44. The downhill was a blast. Pretty fucking happy with this run.
I'll snap some pics next weekend as I went super lightweight this time around.
