i love stannis. not a fan of the lord of light stuff, but otherwise i'm pulling for this guy right now. i think i was sold on him when he stormed king's landing and had to be pulled away by his own men. i didn't care about his story before then, but since that blackwater episode i have had much more interest in his role. davos has a lot to do with it, too- it's hard not to like that guy and as long as stannis still has him around, i'll hope that stannis remains a major player.

I always want to root for Stannis because he does, you know, have one of the strongest claims to the throne (sorry, Dany, but your dad did get beat down), but it gets hard because for so many of his scenes he does the "brooding and looking off into the distance" thing. But moments like the storming of King's Landing really make you want to get behind the guy. I also think the whole Lord of Light business is going to be super important before the whole series played out.

I may have mentioned this on here before (and this is book-spolier free, don't worry), but I'm intrigued to see how the religious themes play out in the rest of the series. Do we ever get a sense of which of the many religions is "right"? Or (since so many of them share qualities and characteristics), will we ever learn more about their origin story, i.e., which came first?

You do realise that you're spoiler-ing here anyway (if you're a book reader)? Saying something like

immediately relays to us that nothing has happened on that front, whereas we could be anticipating Stannis pitching up and magicking his way onto the throne next episode (or something).

Ditto with the comments about the religions, to a lesser extent.

Just a note to be careful on speculating at all in a show-thread - a lot of the readers on other sites I've been to seem to do this all the time without realising that they're doing it.

with the banner brotherhood or whatever they're called showing us some pretty unbelievable things, and some of the things we've seen with the red woman (not the smoke baby, though, imo), i am actually inclined to put some stock into that religions authenticity. i think the red woman is using it for her own gains, however, and is not a true advocate.

I think Tyrion and Khaleesi are the untouchables, at least until the series ultimately wraps up.

I want to see more of the guy who came back from the dead inside that cave.

Bottom line though - In the end I feel all the human/throne drama won't matter much as either the dragons or white walkers kill all and everything in their path. Until then, more tits please.

LOST was another show with a ton of characters, many who unexpectedly died along the way. But there were a handful you knew would not die. I think there are at least a couple such characters in GoT. I think it would be fairly unsatisfying not to have any of the people you started out with present at the end. There have got to be at least a couple constants.
