That was underwhelming as an episode.

Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
That being said the theme of GoT is very different. It's about pursuing power, dying in the pursuit of power, and everybody trying to kill you once you have power. So I guess all bets are off.Bammer wrote:LOST was another show with a ton of characters, many who unexpectedly died along the way. But there were a handful you knew would not die. I think there are at least a couple such characters in GoT. I think it would be fairly unsatisfying not to have any of the people you started out with present at the end. There have got to be at least a couple constants.cutuphalfdead wrote:You guys really think people are untouchable?
I could be wrong. Who knows.

They're not. They're bastards and each region has it's own surname that kinda ties in with some aspect of it.Bammer wrote:

Now I will have that song stuck in my head all day. All day while I'm talking to myself in public, that is.

So... Anyone from that region who isn't really part of a more well known family/line just ends up being known as a "Snow" then?Oh, Jimmy wrote:They're not. They're bastards and each region has it's own surname that kinda ties in with some aspect of it.Bammer wrote:

No, common people have no surname. The name Snow is the last name given to a Lords bastard. He can't inherit his land or titles unless his dad legitimizes like Ramsay was.Bammer wrote:So... Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Not really...while I'm pretty sure there are low-born people who have bastard names, the examples I can think of from the books are mostly people with one high-born parents (like: Jon, Ramsay, some of Robert's bastards, Ellaria Sand). It's mostly used to try and shame these people, which is why Ramsay getting to be a Bolton is such a huge deal.Bammer wrote:So... Sort of. Many of them followed the geographic bastard naming as well, like Brynden Rivers. Blackfyre actually became a cadet branch of the Targaryen house after one of them was legitimized. Which makes me even nerdierlowlight79 wrote:Don't forget Targareyens are Blackfyre! I feel like such a nerd.

The kid doing the head nod after killing ginger minge actually made me laugh. Also, ginger minge.
