Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

60s folk/singer/songwriter stuff seems really underrepresented outside of Bob Dylan

the best song of the 60s has yet to be taken. I'll be drafting it in my final pick, making the other 99 songs in this contest irrelevant

That's because Bob Dylan made all those other guys/gals irrelevant.

I'd certainly include the Beatles on my short list of great bands, but didn't have room for them here. When a band has that many great songs, how do you pick just one? That said, I had the entire Beatles discography on my iPod, along with 11,000 or so other songs. I finally had to go through it and remove some. Man, those guys have some fucking awful songs. I mean really really bad, annoying tunes. 90% of it may be gold, but that other ten percent? Whew.

I'm very pleased with the developments while I was gone.

Also pleased that my favorite Motown song (and one of my five favorite songs of all-time) of all is still unpicked...

This isn't true.

I love Maxwell's Silver Hammer. It's like a Joss Whedon horror film of a song. But I totally get being annoyed by it as well.

Don't get me started. I was actually a bit surprised by the number of shitty Beatles songs, the vast majority of which were released in the latter (and much more critically acclaimed) portion of their lifespan.

There are a small number of Beatles songs that I think are meh. I can't think of any that I think are shitty. I'm sure there are some, but I can't think of them. Octopus's Garden might be the one I like least of any of their proper studio releases (albums and singles).

Our conversation was pretty much this thread's version of the speech at the end of Rocky IV.
