It's hard to find a specific flaw. It's all great stuff - just not quite what came before it, that's all.

Unlike Riot Act, there aren't any songs here I don't like. It sounds great on headphones blah blah...

I can only say I agree with most of what has been said, ie, 1. Of the girl should be the opener 2. And great songs were left off the album.

It's flaw is the silly typing secret track!!!

Soon Forget is just fine on it's own, but it doesn't belong on Binaural.

I love Binaural, but it could have been legendary with the proper track selection and order, and that is disappointing.

Of A Girl
Education
Grievance
Rivals
Nothing As It Seams
Sad
Parting Ways
Fatal
Insignifigance
Evacuation
Sleight Of Hand
This would have been my take, but then Light Years would have been on Lost Dogs so we could all say they left the best song off the record.

I don't particularly care for Habit Rival but I'll get into it live.

What does it promise again?

And what is so "enormous" about its failure?

Please enlighten me.

I'm not being contrarian but light years is probably my favourite thing on this album.
It and puzzles and games are both awesome.

I wish Light Years sounded more forlorn or confused than it does. Part of my issue with Binaural and Riot Act is that (with some exceptions) these are songs that are really crying out for alienated vocals, and Eddie's strength as a vocalist (I think) is that even at his most lost he sounds connected to others in a really tangible way.

I think that fragility and vulnerability is something ed tries hard to hide and work away from.
Light years is a good example of that shift. It gives a bit too much and reveals a bit too much so if I just drag it to the middle, I can make it safe.

Sorta thing

There's nothing wrong with Light Years. You should be shamed of yourselves.

i would like Light Years so much better if it was on Lost Dogs. but knowing some of the songs that got knocked out of contention, and Light Years didn't?

At the time, there was no such thing as a song that didn't belong on an album, because they were all good. Soon Forget was a quirky detour rather than an embarrassment.
